The 2013 Arrowhead Pride NFL mock draft is now complete. GMs (also Arrowhead Pride readers) made 32 picks in the annual AP mock draft. Check out the results below.

The AP mock draft is now complete. From the Kansas City Chiefs to the Baltimore Ravens, all 32 picks have been made. A big round of applause to everyone who participated. This was a lot of fun. We did two rounds in the past but I think one was just right.

The pick we care about -- the Chiefs -- was posted way back on April 1. The choice then by AP user R2J_24 was Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel and if we did the mock draft again today it would probably be the same pick. All signs continue to point to the KC Chiefs selecting one of the top two left tackles, Joeckel or Central Michigan's Eric Fisher.

Geno Smith went all the way at No. 2 with GenericBrand repping the Jags. That's one of those picks that would be lower if it were done today, at least going by the buzz around Smith these days.

Oklahoma's Lane Johnson went 12th to the Dolphins, which was a popular pick three weeks ago. Today, Johnson is regularly mocked in the top five. Ziggy Ansah went 17th to the Steelers and today I could see him going in the top five.

Let us know in the comments what you think is the best value pick and the biggest reach. For value, I'll say DJ Fluker going 30th to the Falcons by bradelli58. For reach, ArrowDread sending Keenan Allen to the BIlls with the No. 8 pick.

Here's the whole thing with links to each write-up. Great work everyone!

The 2013 Arrowhead Pride NFL mock draft continues. AP user Ben S is representing the Baltimore Ravens with the No. 32 overall pick...

As the winner of the Super Bowl (and subsequent owner of the most irrelevant pick in the AP mock draft) I must take this time to gloat...

Alright, back at it. Right now, it's looking like te Ravens really could have a spot for me on their staff. After winning the Super Bowl, they decided to take their entire team and blow it up while giving their QB a ton of cash. I can't say I'm a huge fan of this strategy, but what do I know? It's not like I nailed last year's pick. I digress.

Anyways, this team is looking like a mess, and for the first time in the history of me following football, it looks as though the defense will be the Ravens liability. Thankfully I am here to mitigate the situation...

With that being said, the Baltimore Ravens select...

Notre Dame LB Manti Te'o

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Ok, so the guys weird, I get that. Personally, and this is just my opinion, but I refuse to believe that this guy is stupid enough to date a girl on the Internet, and then to mourn her death on national television. "Baby please, just one breast? This is what Skype was made for baby, please!" Please don't try to convince me that this guy can memorize the entire ND play book (to the point of being a captain, no less) , attend class, turn down countless women looking to strike it rich, but doesn't pick up on the fact that he's dating a fake girl. I just refuse to believe it.

That being said, I think this would be an absolute beauty of a pick for the Ravens who are in dire need of a linebacker. With the recent arrest of colossal idiot Rolando McClain, the Ravens are even more desperate for someone to at least attempt to fill the shoes of Ray Lewis. Who better than a guy who got his entire school pumped up on the idea that his fake girlfriend died? That's the ultimate Ray move. Despite the usual pre-draft nitpick, I believe Te'o has the smarts(!) and work ethic to contribute to the Ravens, regardless of the kind of person he is. I mean the Ravens signed McClain, didn't they? At least Te'o still endorses the team mentality.

Hopefully this pick will suffice as the last pick of the draft for AP. Ah who am I kidding, I just miss Jarome Iginla.

The 2013 Arrowhead Pride NFL mock draft continues. AP user How to: Sabotage is representing the San Francisco 49ers with the No. 31 overall pick...

In 2012 the San Francisco 49ers took another big step forward and were able to reach the Super Bowl after just missing it the previous year. After two very good years under Harbaugh, these 49ers are making it known league wide that they are one of the best teams in the NFL and will be for years. This team has had a top 5 defense the past two years and while the offense wasn't quite gangbusters until this year, this is an explosive team on both sides of the ball.

So far this offseason the 49ers have acquired some notable names such as Anquan Boldin, Colt McCoy and Nnamdi Asomugha. There have been some losses on both sides of the ball as well. Isaac Sopoaga, Ricky Jean-Francois, Alex Smith, Delanie Walker, and Dashon Goldson have all been signed elsewhere while Randy Moss is still chillin on the free agent market. The 49ers should go into this draft looking for more depth and possible starter capability on the defensive line and in the secondary at the safety position. More depth can also be added to tight end behind Vernon Davis and along the interior offensive line. They should be able to find a few good players as the 49ers have 13 picks in this years draft including two in the top 34 (I'm sure we're all too familiar with that).

So join me as we get to listen in on a conversation between GM Trent Baalke and Head Coach Jim Harbaugh, as well as some breakdown and analysis of the selection.

Chris Graythen Getty Images Sport

Somewhere in Santa Clara..

Trent: Well Jim, the draft is coming up here pretty soon and I've been meaning to ask you.. What type of players are you looking to add to this squad?

Jim: Just gobble, gobble, gobble turkey from jive turkey gobblers. I think that paints a pretty good picture.

Trent: Ok let's just get this over with. Do you remember any players at the combine that you liked?

Jim: I have a memory like an elephant.. I never forget.

Trent: Right, well what did you think about Jonathan Cyprien?

Jim: I defy anyone to tell me there's something he lacks.

Trent: Well there's some questions about his straight line speed and he could work on his angles but you're right, he is a very good player.

Jim: We're not about fueling the hype.

Trent: You were the one claiming he isn't lacking in any area.

Jim: Guilty as charged for fueling the hype.. well deserved.

Trent: You feeling alright Jim? You seem to be a little under the weather. Why don't you take a vacation and I'll handle this draft.

Jim: I don't take vacations. I don't get sick. I don't observe major holidays. I'm a jackhammer.

Trent: So I've heard. I got a call from Jesse Williams' agent and he seemed to be a little unhappy with you. Care to explain?

Jim: I shook his hand too hard. I mean I really went in and it was strong and kind of a slap-grab-handshake... So, that was on me.

Trent: Ok Jim well I really like this kid Datone Jones from UCLA. If he's available with our 31st pick I'm going to pull the trigger. Now I need you to keep this confidential. What will you tell people if they start asking around?

Jim: It's phony, even the perception that we were pursuing him... We were evaluating him.

Trent: Ok great. Well I'll see you around Jim. Any last questions for me?

Jim: Who's got it better than us?!?

Trent: The Ravens, Jim. The Ravens.

With the 31st pick in the Arrowhead Pride 2013 Mock Draft, the San Francisco 49ers select...

Datone Jones, Defensive End from UCLA

Jeff Gross Getty Images Sport

6'4", 283 lbs-- While Datone Jones continues to fill out his frame, let's take a look at his current strengths and why he is a good fit for this stout 49ers defense. The 49ers need some depth along the defensive line as well as an eventual replacement for the "Cowboy" Justin Smith. Datone almost already has perfect size for the 5-technique defensive end in the 49ers defense. He has aggressive, violent hands and is a high-motor guy. He can be lined up all over the defensive line and can be initially used on passing downs and rotated in-and-out to give guys rest.

A couple notes...

- I polled the fine people over at Niners Nation and this was the player that got the highest percentage of votes so it was good to see he was still on the board.

- If you're not as familiar with Jim Harbaugh, let me educate you. Every response in the imaginary conversation above was something that Jim has actually said over the last two years. Seriously.

The 2013 Arrowhead Pride NFL mock draft continues. AP user bradelli58 is representing the Atlanta Falcons with the No. 30 overall pick...

2012 Season Recap

In 2012 the Atlanta Falcons started the season on fire by setting a franchise record with 8 straight wins before losing to the Saints. They continued their strong play after that loss and finished with a record of 13-3. In their first playoff game the Falcons held off impressive rookie QB Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks to make it to the NFC Championship game for the first time since 2004. In that game, they lead the San Francisco 49ers at halftime, but went on to lose after the 49ers scored 14 unanswered second half points. In that game, Falcons QB Matt Ryan was injured on the last drive and then threw two incomplete passes to end the game. The injuries may not have led directly to the incomplete passes, but it is important that the Falcons protect their franchise QB. The Falcons are a talented team in win now mode with QB Matt Ryan leading the way. The have some holes to fill after key departures this offseason through free agency and cuts and will look to the draft to fill some of those holes. Now on to the pick.

In honor of the 2013 NCAA Final Four being played in Atlanta, I'm gonna make the pick March Madness style. I will list what I think are the Falcons current needs in order (this will be the Final Four seeding). For each need, I will pick the best available player that fits that need. Let the tournament begin!

First Semifinal

No. 1 need - CB (Jamar Taylor, Boise State) vs. #4 need - TE (Zach Ertz, Stanford)

After losing Dunta Robinson and Brent Grimes in free agency, the Falcons only have one proven CB on the roster, Asante Samuel. With the NFL moving more and more towards a passing league, teams have to be able to defend the pass. Jamar Taylor has been moving up draft boards after his strong combine performance (40yd dash: 4.39, Bench Press: 22 reps) and has the ability to play both man and zone schemes. He would immediately contend for a starting spot opposite Asante Samuel.

With Tony Gonzalez deciding to play one more year, the Falcons can hold off on filling the TE spot. However, the team doesnt currently have a replacement on the roster. Zach Ertz has the ability to be a productive pass catcher and an above average blocker. He would be able to study under Tony G. and contribute for a year before becoming the starter in 2014.

Winner

Now if Tyler Eifert was still available, this would be much closer and a possible upset because I see Eifert as being rated higher than both players by a pretty good margin. However, I feel Jamar Taylor is a better prospect and a bigger need then Zach Ertz, so he moves on.

Second Semifinal

No. 2 need - DE (Cornellius "Tank" Carradine, Florida State) vs #3 need - RT (D.J. Fluker, Alabama)

After cutting John Abraham, the Falcons replaced him in free agency with former Giant Osi Umenyiora. Umenyiora can still be productive, but is 32 years old. There is not much depth behind current starters Umenyiora and Kroy Biermann. The Falcons need to add DEs with the ability to get to the QB. Tank Carradine has that ability. He is a natural pass rusher with good speed and pass rushing moves. Carradine had 11 sacks and 13 tackles for a loss in 12 games last year at FSU. Unfortunately his season ended with an ACL tear, the only thing holding him back from being a mid-first round pick. Even after the injury, Carradine is a great prospect with the ability to contribute his rookie year.

Due to his high salary, the Falcons cut RT Tyson Clabo this offseason. In addition, starting C Todd McClure has retired. Depending on where 2012 pick Peter Konz starts, the Falcons will need to fill two spots, C/G and RT. D.J. Fluker projects to be a starting RT with the possibility of sliding over to OG. He is an elite run blocker that needs to improve his pass protection. Fluker also is battle tested against elite college players in the SEC.

Winner

While DE is a greater need positionally, Fluker is a better prospect than Tank Carradine. While the Falcons have 2012 3rd round pick Lamar Holmes as on option at RT, Fluker is a more talented player and would be able to start from day one and ensure that the Falcons keep franchise QB Matt Ryan upright. Fluker moves on.

Final

No. 1 need - CB (Jamar Taylor, Boise State) vs. #3 need - RT (D.J. Fluker, Alabama)

While I see CB as a bigger need, I believe that Fluker is a slightly better prospect. Also, the CB position is very deep in this years draft. I think there will be a run on CBs in the 2nd and 3rd rd. The Falcons could pick up a starter at CB in those rounds, choosing from players like Johnthan Banks, Blidi Wreh-Wilson, DJ Hayden and Darius Slay. For those two reasons, with the 30th pick in the 2013 NFL draft, the Atlanta Falcons select...

D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama

The 2013 Arrowhead Pride NFL mock draft continues. AP user BeeRadd is representing the New England Patriots with the No. 29 overall pick...

There aren't many teams in the NFL (or any sport for that matter) who have maintained the kind of success that the New England Patriots have. Since the year 2000 they have the NFL's best regular season record of 151-57 for a 73 percent winning percentage and have won three Super Bowl titles. Coincidentally, the year 2000 happened to be the same year Bill Belichick was hired to be the head coach and Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round with the 199th overall pick. I'm not going to tout Belichick's genius in drafting Brady that year because if he was as smart as everyone thinks he is he would have traded up to draft Brady with the 1st overall pick because he's been that good! Instead every team in the NFL, including our beloved Chiefs, passed on him 5-6 times. Disgusting! When you have the ultimate success because of the greatest draft pick in NFL history, it makes everything else a little easier when you're on the clock.

Belichick and the Patriots have always been movers and shakers on draft day, but due to some recent trades (which haven't really worked out) they aren't as loaded as they have been in years past. This limits their ability to make moves and also makes hitting on all the picks they do have this year even more important. They don't have picks in the 4th round (traded for Aqib Talib), 5th round (traded for Albert Haynesworth) or the 6th round (traded for Chad Ochocinco) which leaves them with a grand total of 5 picks in this year's draft. That's pretty slim pickings when compared to the 49ers, who have a whopping 11 picks this year.

Thankfully (for them) they don't have too many areas of weakness, but the secondary and receiving corps jump out at me. Keeping Aqib Talib after giving up a 4th round pick for him was huge and he really upgraded their defense after he arrived, plus he should only be better with some more time in the system. Hopefully Alfonzo Dennard will be out of jail in time to attend off-season workouts and adding Adrian Wilson to the mix was a key pick up because I think he will help mentor last year's 2nd round pick Tavon Wilson who should only get better. Signing Tommy Kelly was an underrated move and with the development of last year's picks Dont'a Hightower and Chandler Jones to go with Jerod Mayo, Brandon Spikes and Vince Wilfork, I think the front seven will be really good.

This leaves the Patriots in a pretty good position to address the offense and the WR position. Signing Leon Washington, who will play a Danny Woodhead type role, will give them similar play calling options as they had last year as well as add a dynamic kick/punt returner to the team. Losing Welker to the Donkey's is going to hurt more than they realize and I can't believe they didn't pay the man. While I think Danny Amendola will do a good job filling in for Welker, the Patriots haven't had a truly dynamic receiver since Randy Moss and as good as Brady is, he is much better with a weapon like that. Can you imagine this team with Gronkowski, Hernandez, Amendola AND Moss? That would be a NIGHTMARE for defenses to have to gameplan for!

That's why the Patriots will pick....

WR Justin Hunter from Tennessee

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Hunter is a prototypical receiver at 6'4, 200 lbs and has great measurables which he showed off at this year's combine. He is sure handed and in my opinion has the most potential of all the wide receivers in this year's draft, with some scouts offering up some Randy Moss and AJ Green comparisons. With Gronkowski going over the middle, Hernandez lining up everywhere and Amendola working out of the slot, Hunter will have plenty of room to work out wide and over the top to make a huge impact right out of the gate. Defenses will have to stay honest after the emergence of a decent run game last year and with all the receiving options on the field at once they won't know where to focus. If this happens, the Patriots opponents and especially their secondaries are in for some long days!

Like I said earlier, when you draft one of the greatest QB's in history with your 6th round pick, it makes everything else a little easier. Go Chiefs!

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

The 2013 Arrowhead Pride NFL mock draft continues. AP user ravenhawk is representing the Denver Broncos with the No. 28 overall pick...

Ravenhawk reporting Denver’s 1st round pick here at U of L’s George J. Howe Red Barn in Louisville, KY. The reason for reporting at the Red Barn is because U of L knows champions. Most relevant to this pick U of L was crowned Sugar Bowl champions. More recently U of L has been crown Final 4 Champions. The past 2 years U of L has had the best swimming and diving teams and this year they finished in 2nd place. John Elway should take a page from Tom Jurich’s book on putting together a winning team.

The top needs for the Broncos are DE, LB, QB and the first 3 picks are No. 28, No. 58, No. 90.

So Mr. Elway I suggest you take a look at Louisville for guidance as this city knows champions.

Since the attention is on Louisville Mr. Elway and the Kentucky Derby will be running on May 4th, I figure you would enjoy hearing about the ‘studs’ that will be competing. Who knows Mr. Elway? You might just get lucky.

Will take Charge - Horton Stables Odds 25:1

Will take charge has been compared to Margus Hunt DE/DT out of SMU. If Will take Charge pans out he is going to be the big winner in the Kentucky Derby. Hunt and Will take Charge have lots of potential and are extremely powerful win placed out on the edge. They both like to stuff the run and make their presence know pass rushing off of the edge.

Vyjack - Pick Six Stables Odds 12:1

Vyjack has been compared to Tank Carradine DE out of Florida State. Some say that Carradine is bigger than Vyjack but they both have similar styles of play (though I must say these folks are delusional). Both these competitors are very good pass-rusher, but they have a liability of defending the opposing teams run.

Governor Charlie - Pegram Stables Odds 26:1

Governor Charlie has been compared to Ryan Nassib QB out of Syracuse. Governor Charlie has similar signal calling as Nassib. They are both game managers that display some accuracy on touch passes. These guys aren’t going to set the world on fire but are competitors by displaying their intelligence and physical skill sets. The biggest drawback is when they get behind and have long strides to make up both are a liability in getting the big win.

Black Onyx - Sterling Racing odds 40:1

Black Onyx has been compared to Alex Okafor DE/OLB out of Texas. Like Okafor, Black Onyx has been a steady and a consistent pass-rusher. Both these guys have been winner with the combination of speed, strength moves and versatility. Oakafor at 6’ 4" 246 lbs is a little smaller than Black Onyx.

On defense Denver improved their defense by signing defensive tackle Terrance Knighton and cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The handling of Elvis Dumervil has the Broncos in dire need to find an edge rusher to team with Von Miller. Unfortunately I do not find Margus Hunt or Tank Carradine to be able to fill those shoes. I also do not find any linebacker worthy of this pick with Arthur Brown already off the table.

On offense Denver should have Manning continue to play at a high level. The Broncos added Wes Welker as well as guard Louis Vasquez in free agency. The only other quarterback on Denver's roster is Brock Osweiler so it's probably a good idea for John Elway to grab a potential heir apparent at some point. I think the Broncos are better served to pass on a QB in round one and think about QB or LB in round 2.

The Broncos could also use a big back as Willis McGahee is under contract for 2013 and he is up there in RB years. Knowshon Moreno still doesn’t put the fear into defenses. The offense could be best served by getting a tough RB that will help open up the offense.

The Pick:

Eddie Lacy RB Alabama 5’ 10 220 lbs.

Photo credit: Eileen Blass-USA TODAY Sports

While Lacy isn’t going to tear up the times at the Kentucky Derby, he is tough workhorse that will get the job done out in the fields. Denver knows Clydesdale horses my suggested pick of Eddie Lacy is more of a Friesian breed. They are both muscular bodied with comparably stronger shorter limbs.

Another reason Broncos fans should pay attention to Friesen and Lacy is because neither are inbred like the Clydesdales found in Denver.

In Lacy’s sophomore year at Alabama he was the backup to Trent Richardson. When Lacy received carries, he was solid running for 631 yards on 84 carries and seven touchdowns. He had a tremendous offensive line and had productive season in 2012 running for 1322 yards and seventeen touchdowns. Lacey averaged 6.7 yards per carry compared to Trent Richardson’s best year of 6.3

Lacy was a power runner for Alabama and lost touches to standout freshman T.J. Yeldon. Lacy caught 22 passes for 189 yards and two touchdowns, too. He had massive performances against Georgia (20-181) in the SEC Championship and Notre Dame (20-140) in the National Championship.

Lacy's stock was rising steadily since the completion of the 2012 season. He has been slow to rise lately because he has been unable to work out with scouts due to injury. The concerns scouts have is if Lacy can pick up blocking and receiving in the passing game. Scouts love his running ability with his power, quickness and elusiveness. I personally liked him more than Richardson last season.

The 2013 Arrowhead Pride NFL mock draft continues. AP user RhodyChief is representing the Houston Texans with the No. 27 overall pick...

Let’s be honest: After the Houston Texans were blown out 42-14 by the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football, did anyone think that they had a legitimate shot at making it to the Super Bowl?

It’s funny how one game can change your opinion of a team so drastically. Even though they struggled against the lowly Jaguars and under-achieving Lions they came from behind to win both games in overtime. Questions on whether Matt Schaub could bring a team back seemed to have been answered. Then two weeks later, the Monday Night Debacle happened.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a quarterback seemingly regress so much in one game than Schaub. It was only 14-0 after the 1st quarter but not only could you see it in his eyes, you could see it in his teammates. This wasn’t the Jaguars and Chad Henne. This wasn’t even the Lions and Matthew Stafford. It was Tom Bleepin’ Brady, Vince "try to run up the middle" Wilfork and The Hoodie. The Texans rely on the run to set up the pass (boy, doesn’t that sound familiar.) When Arian Foster is dominating it allows Schaub to run play-action and use Andre Johnson and the TEs to find holes in coverage and beat you downfield. It was a formula that for the most part was always effecting for them. However, once the Patriots had gone up by two scores and effectively neutralized Arian Foster the only way for the Texans to stay competitive was to rely on Schaub. Well, we all know how that turned out.

The Texans would lose 3 of their last 4 games and stumble into the playoffs including losing the 1st round bye they held up until the last game of the season. Even though they were able to beat the Bengals in one of the ugliest Wild-Card games we’ve seen in recent memory they again lost to the Pats 41-28 in a game that wasn’t as close as the score would indicate.

So after a disappointing season in which the Texans fell short of expectations, where do they go from here?

Photo credit: David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

Much like last season the Texans lost some pretty good players in the offseason. OLB Connor Barwin decided to join Chip Kelly and the Eagles while getting a very nice contract in the process (6 years, $36 million.) Barwin is a solid player but only had 4.5 sacks this past season and it’s questionable if he was worth that large of a commitment. The Texans also have last year’s 1st round pick Whitney Mercilus to step in and take over that spot so I don’t expect there to be much of a drop-off, if at all.

It’s two of the subtractions on the offensive side that concerns me for the Texans. They decided not to resign WR Kevin Walter and hybrid TE James Casey, two of the Top 5 receivers on the team last year. They combined for 75 catches, 848 yards and 5 touchdowns. Walter had been with Houston since 2006 and developed into a very reliable possession receiver. He’s always been considered the #2 WR on the Texans but I never thought he lived up to that billing. Casey was in his 4th year with the team and had his best season, becoming a reliable 2nd option next to Owen Daniels as a TE and a valuable blocker when playing the FB in front of Foster. While you won’t confuse either player as a game-changing weapon the skills that both brought to the table will be missed, especially by Schaub. He still has Andre Johnson and Daniels, but who else?

The rest of the Texans WR depth chart is full of question marks and unproven players. The Texans took two receivers last year in the draft, DeVier Posey in the 3rd round and Keshawn Martin in the 4th. They also have Lestar Jean who was an undrafted free agent in 2011. The total stats for these three receivers from this past season? 22 catches, 323 yards and 2 touchdowns. To say that there was a lack of production from these players would be an understatement. To top it off Posey tore his Achilles at the end of the season and isn’t expected back until the middle of the 2013 season, weakening them even further.

At the tight-end spot the only other player with experience besides Daniels is Garrett Graham. Last year was his first season of regular playing time and he put up pretty good numbers for a 3rd string TE, having 28 catches for 263 yards and 3 touchdowns. This coming season will be an important one for Graham as he is arguably the team’s 3rd option at receiver right now. Can he develop further and become a reliable threat for the Texans? That remains to be seen.

If I’m a Texans fan I’m extremely nervous by the lack of talent in the passing game right now. You have a quarterback who isn’t known for being a deep-thrower (even though he does have the ability to get the ball down the field on occasion) and who relies on those short to intermediate routes to have continued success. Their two best players are starting to creep up in age (Daniels is 30, Johnson is 31) and both have had injury concerns over the course of their careers that you have to consider as they get older. Surrounding them is a group of young receivers who have yet to prove anything in the NFL. Worst of all, they took away Schaub’s security blanket (Walter) and didn’t replace him in free agency.

There is a desperate need for a playmaker on the Houston offense, one who prevents teams from double-covering Johnson and Daniels and who can play all across the field, not just on the sidelines or across the middle. They need a hybrid player who can not only catch passes but isn’t afraid to block. They need someone who isn’t afraid to get hit and will risk his body in order to make the catch. That being said…

With the 27th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select…

Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame

There may be no better offensive player in this draft better suited to the Texans needs than Eifert. He has the ability to line up all over the field and can provide matchup problems for both CBs and LBs because of his size, speed and strength at the position. He has some of the best hands of any receiver of this class, making some very hard catches look easy at times. He’s going to win you a lot of one-on-one matchups. While he is not a great blocker he puts in the effort to try and stop defenders and an area he can continue to improve in. I don’t think he’s a player you’re going to ask to shut down a rusher like Gronkowski can but more along the lines of a very good blocking WR, being able to seal off their defender and prevent them from making a play.

Tyler Eifert is the perfect match for Matt Schaub. It provides a versatile weapon that defenses have to account for and his talents fit a play-action offense perfectly. His ability to go up and get the ball is a tremendous asset to have and at 6-5 he’ll have a lot of those opportunities, not to mention if he’s going against a less athletic linebacker. When you look at what hybrid tight-ends like Aaron Hernandez and Jimmy Graham have done it’s easy to see what having a player of that type can do for an offense.

Last year in the AP mock draft I took Stephen Hill for the Texans for primarily the same reason: He was a playmaker on a team that lacked them. In reality they went defense and the lack of another true weapon hurt them in the long run. Hopefully this year they heed my advice and give Houston a player who’s a even better fit for their offense than I thought Hill could be.

The 2013 Arrowhead Pride NFL mock draft continues. AP user nateforchiefs is representing the Green Bay Packers with the No. 26 overall pick...

The Situation

Green Bay Packers with the 26th pick in the 2013 NFL draft.

The team analysis

More holes to fill than one would think for being the 6th best team in the NFL. The OL has been underachieving, the DL Swiss cheese, WRs are decent but undermanned, ILBs are only OK, RBs are average at best and the secondary either needs to get healthy, mature or get more talent. I went over to the excellent SBN Green Bay Packers blog, Acme Packing Company, to get their hopes and analysis. The fans there are polite, educated and willing to help. Using their opinions and insight I made my pick based off of their stated team needs.

The needs

Offensive Line, Defensive Line, Wide Receiver, Running Back

To call the offensive line underachieving is probably an understatement. When you have an elite QB in Aaron Rodgers it's probably a good idea to pass protect better than giving up 51 sacks (second most in NFL in 2012). The run blocking is better but still an issue, the team averaged only 3.9 yds per carry (some of that can be assigned to the RB), but still needs help.

The defensive line was disappointing to say it best, the Packers were hoping for run stuffing help with 2012 second round pick pick Jerel Worthy but he was injured and did not play up to expectations. B.J. Raji, the Pro Bowl NT from a couple years ago regressed tremendously in 2012. Collectively they were the 23rd ranked rush defense per carry, giving up 4.5 yds per carry and 17th in total run defense yards. Outside runs seemed to be the downfall, ranking 28th and 21st in runs around the ends. The DE is supposed to stop those runs and force the RB inside to where help is (MN inspired side note, for KC Tyson Jacksons side was ranked #5 in the NFL last year).

Wide receivers are decent, but there are certainly not enough of them. Donald Driver, the ageless wonder himself, has decided to retire. Jordy Nelson, James Jones and Randall Cobb are really all that's there, and none of them are a #1 WR in my opinion. When you are a high powered passing attack you can never have to many pass catchers (My fantasy football team inspired side note: yes Finley, you are supposed to CATCH the passes).

When you're running backs are James Starks, Ryan Grant and Jon Kuhn (KUHN!!!) you might need more help here. A speed guy would go nice as well because none of these guys are burners so to speak.

The Pick

With the 26th Pick in the NFL draft the Green Bay Packers select....

Johnathan Hankins, DL from Ohio State

Mary Langenfeld-USA TODAY Sports

Johnathan Hankins is a big son of a gun, listed at 322 at Ohio State (I think that's a lie, he looked about a biscuit away from 350). He is a physically powerful player, controlling multiple linemen by himself, allowing others to make the plays and get the stats. He's lined up primarily inside in the 4-3 defense, but would at times line up outside as well. The Buckeye coaches think highly of him, both as a player and as a person, he has in fact been compared to our own Dontari Poe in size and physicality. Quicker than he looks, he has a good first step and can chase after the ball carrier and QB, but he is definitely a run stuffer first.

Like most college defensive linemen he has some things he needs to work on: His stamina needs improvement, his weight needs controlled (see biscuit analogy above), his snaps will need to be monitored as he is much better earlier in games, (he rarely left the field, but would get noticeably worn down as games went along), his technique needs improvement as he relied heavily on just being stronger and bigger than most of the offensive guys he went against. There will be a learning curve with him and will probably be brought along slowly. He will be able to play any position on the DL with the Packers 3-4 defense, he will be probably depth initially and a starter by year 2. An interesting thing of note here, the Packers have only 3 DL on contract for 2014, so especially look for them to plan for the future with this pick.
