Some notes

  • The Chiefs begin the week without five players practicing: left tackle Donovan Smith (neck), running back Isiah Pacheco (concussion/shoulder), wide receiver Kadarius Toney (hip) and cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (calf). There is more information on what that means for Sunday’s game here.
  • Right guard Trey Smith (ankle/knee) was injured during the Chiefs’ game against the Raiders. He was limited to begin the week.
  • It’s worth noting that wide receiver Mecole Hardman (thumb) was a full participant at practice on Wednesday. With questions surrounding Toney’s availability for the second straight week, it is reasonable to think that the Chiefs could activate Hardman so that he can play against the Bengals this weekend.
  • For the Bengals, wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase (shoulder) remains a player to watch, even as he did not practice on Wednesday. Chase apparently went through the walkthrough on Wednesday, so there is a chance he could be ready to play at Arrowhead.
  • The Bengals have designated cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt (ankle) to return from injured reserve — and he was a full participant on Wednesday. It sounds like he thinks he can play this weekend, which would provide quite a boost for the Bengals.
