Some notes

  • For the Chiefs... Left tackle Donovan Smith (neck) and running back Isiah Pacheco (shoulder), missed practice all this week after being out for the Week 14 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Both have been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Patriots.
  • Speaking to reporters on Friday, head coach Andy Reid revealed that Pacheco has had a surgical procedure on his shoulder. “[He] had some things taken out that were ‘floaters’ in there,” said Reid. “But he’s doing well. He’s moving around good. We’ll probably anticipate getting [him] back next week.”
  • Pressed for details, Reid acknowledged that the procedure was a “cleanup surgery” on Pacheco’s previously injured shoulder.
  • Safety Mike Edwards was a full participant in Friday’s practice after missing Wednesday and Thursday with an illness. Linebacker Leo Chenal (illness) was out sick on Wednesday, but was a full participant on both Thursday and Friday.
  • Linebacker Nick Bolton (wrist/abdomen) was a full participant on Friday after being limited on Wednesday and Thursday. He is good to go for Sunday’s game — as is linebacker Drue Tranquill, who was inactive against the Bills with a concussion.
  • The Chiefs currently have a roster exemption for wide receiver Justyn Ross, who was a full participant in all of this week’s practices. Before playing in a game, he would have to be activated to the 53-man roster — but it looks like that’s not going to happen before Sunday.
  • Reid said that if the team does choose to activate Ross, it won’t happen until next week — but also said that Ross had practiced well his first week back after a suspension. “I thought he did a nice job,” said the head coach. “[He] moved around well... It was good for him to get out there and work. He did all the scout team reps, so that was a good thing for him.”
  • For the Patriots... running back Rhamondre Stevenson (ankle) has been declared out after missing all of this week’s practices.
  • Both offensive tackle Trent Brown (ankle/hand) and safety Brenden Schooler (illness) missed practice on Thursday. Brown was out sick on Friday, but Schooler felt better; he was a full participant. Brown is questionable for the game, but Schooler is good to go.
  • After missing last week’s game, wide receivers Demario Douglas (concussion) and Kayshon Boutte (shoulder) were limited participants on Wednesday and Thursday. Both were full participants on Friday and are good to go for Sunday’s game. Wideout DeVante Parker (knee) was also inactive last week. He has been limited this week — and is questionable for the game.
  • On Friday, defensive lineman Christian Barmore (shoulder) was downgraded from limited to did not participate. He is questionable for Sunday.
  • Wide receivers JuJu Smith-Schuster (ankle), Tyquan Thornton (hamstring) and Matthew Slater (nir) — along with linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley (knee) — were all limited participants on Friday and have been declared questionable.
