Madden Simulation: Andy Reid vs. Bill Belichick

It’s the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the New England Patriots this Sunday at Gillette Stadium.

Here's what happened in our simulation:

First quarter

The Kansas City Chiefs opened the game with a 10-play drive that stalled inside the New England Patriots' 10-yard line. Kicker Harrison Butker continues to have a perfect field goal percentage both inside the EA Universe and outside the EA Universe.

After a play in which Bailey Zappe took a hard hit from Willie Gay when rushing for a first down, L'Jaruis Sneed made an interception. Four plays later, Clyde Edwards-Helaire ran it into the endzone for a touchdown.

End of the first quarter: Chiefs 10, Patriots 0

Second quarter

In the quarter's first play, Patrick Mahomes threw a pass to Travis Kelce — who was tripled covered. Cornerback Jalen Mills intercepted Mahomes at midfield. Patriots would use that momentum to run the ball with Ty Montgomery as he scored the Patriots' first touchdown.

The Chiefs answered back with a 22-yard catch-and-run to Rashee Rice, putting Kansas City on the Patriots 5-yard line. Jerrick McKinnon would punch it in on the next play to go back up by 10 points.

End of the second quarter: Chiefs 24, Patriots 7

Third quarter

Each team had two drives this quarter, as they punted, and both teams scored a touchdown. Hunter Henry scored the first points of the second half. The Chiefs would answer back with a touchdown of their own by Rice.

End of the third quarter: Chiefs 31, Patriots 14

Fourth quarter

The Patriots went for it on fourth-and-10 and could not convert. The Chiefs took the ball over at midfield, and it did not take long for Kansas City to go up by three scores. The touchdown pass to Rice put this game out of reach for the Patriots as the Chiefs came out victorious at Gillette Stadium.

Final score: Chiefs 45, Patriots 22
