Titans poach Chiefs’ defensive tackle from practice squad

It’s the second time this season that Kansas City’s sixth-round pick Keondre Coburn has landed elsewhere.

On Wednesday, the Tennessee Titans announced they were signing defensive tackle Keondre Coburn from the Kansas City Chiefs’ practice squad, marking the second time this season that Coburn has unexpectedly landed with another NFL team.

The Chiefs took the 23-year-old from the University of Texas with their sixth-round pick of the 2023 NFL Draft (194th overall). With defensive tackle Chris Jones unavailable because of his contract holdout, Coburn played in the season opener against the Detroit Lions, collecting a single tackle on nine defensive snaps.

In mid-October, Kansas City waived Coburn (and wide receiver Montrell Washington) to make roster room for defensive end Charles Omenihu and wide receiver Mecole Hardman. Both were expected to clear waivers and be signed to Kansas City’s practice squad — but the Denver Broncos chose to claim Coburn on waivers.

After a month in Denver, Coburn was waived again — and after clearing waivers, was finally signed to the Chiefs’ practice squad.

The Titans also poached defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna — a sixth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 — from the Detroit Lions’ practice squad.
