Our Redemption Song

This was a game about righting so many wrongs from this season and past.

Harrison Butker

After missing several kicks and having most of the fanbase lose all confidence in him, he was nothing short of spectacular. Once again he had ice in his veins (along with most of the fans, but I digress) going 3/3 on FG's and 2/2 on XP's. On a day as cold as yesterday was, balls just don't fly as far and makes the kicking game much more difficult, he was clutch, yet again, re-instilling confidence from the fans.

Chris Jones

How this man didn't have a single playoff sack to his name is mind boggling. He was clearly inspired to change that and was an absolute wrecking force last night. 2 sacks, 4 tackles, 3 TFL's, and 5 QB hits. While being double and triple teamed. Yeah...that's a way to earn your way onto this list. He's the AFCCG MVP in my eyes.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

He's had an up and down year, but really came in clutch in this one. 6/8 for 116 and a TD. With ending the game with only 3 wideouts, he came up HUGE in this one as a go-to for Mahomes time after time. This game might be the one to keep him in KC this offseason.

Marcus Kemp

One catch. Hardly something to put in a redemption story, but he wasn't even on the roster for most of the year. Largely a career ST's player, he's not seen a lot of targets in his 4 years in KC (he only had 3 career catches before last night). He was thrust into action for injury purposes and while he didn't blow anyone away, he didn't look lost at all and was able to convert a first down. Pretty sweet.

Sky Moore

Completely written off as a returner from 99.999% of the fans as a returner, he was also forced back into the role due to injuries to Hardman, KT, and Pacheco. Not only did he catch the ball, he ended up setting up the game winning FG drive around midfield with a 29 yard return. While I don't think he'll be the returner next year, he definitely got that monkey off his back from earlier in the year.

Our Entire Rookie Secondary Unit

The Chiefs played FOUR rookie DB's last night, and all came up huge. McDuffie's tackling was huge to prevent YAC, Josh Williams thrust into action after Sneed went out early and ending up with a pick initiated by Bryan Cook and Jaylen Watson with his second postseason pick in as many games. These kids are going to make draft day much easier knowing we don't HAVE to go secondary unless someone just falls into our lap.

Carlos Dunlap

While he didnt record any tackles or sacks, he did get consistent pressure ending with 2 QB hits and consistently setting his edge to prevent rune or scrambles to his side. How sweet is it to end his former teams cocky run after being thrown to the wayside 3 years ago?

I, like most Chiefs fans, couldn't stand the talking done by the Bengals all week. We got some standout performances from some unexpected faces last night.

The Future is very bright, Chiefs Kingdom.
