Let’s take our weekly visit to the Madden Universe to see how this game plays out on Sunday.

Here’s what happened in our simulation:

The Kansas City Chiefs returned to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Los Angeles Chargers, needing to rebound after their stunning Sunday night loss to the Baltimore Ravens. They began the game with was something completely unexpected from Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes threw three interceptions — two of which ended as pick-sixes, with the third interception coming inside the red zone. Still, the quarterback finished 43 of 60 passing with 415 yards, which the Chiefs relied on heavily throughout the game — especially on their final drive.

If an opposing team gives Mahomes more than 15 seconds left in a game to drive 75 yards, he can do it. Even in the EA Universe, Mahomes was able to put a touchdown drive together with 50 seconds left.

Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire had nine catches for 59 yards. Edwards-Helaire also rushed for 60 yards on 17 attempts — but it was surprising to see him more as a pass-catching back. Head coach Andy Reid must have gotten creative on moving the ball downfield due to the interceptions.

A bright spot for the Chiefs was the defense in how it played the entire game. The Chiefs forced two turnovers. One was an interception by Tyrann Mathieu. The other was a strip-sack from Frank Clark, which was recovered by Juan Thornhill.

A total of 5.0 sacks throughout the game applied tons of pressure on Herbert. The pressures on Herbert gave him a 60% completion percentage on 254 yards as he was hurried on the majority of his throws.

Final score: Chiefs 27, Chargers 24

In Week 4, the Chiefs are on the road to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles. Kickoff is set for noon Arrowhead Time. As always, we will bring it to you here first in the EA Universe.
