Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that both defensive end Frank Clark and safety Tyrann Mathieu would practice Wednesday in the team’s first day of preparation for the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens host the Chiefs on the Week 2 edition of Sunday Night Football.
“No injuries. [Wednesday], everybody will practice,” said Reid.
Reid told reporters it was his decision to hold Mathieu out of the team’s Week 1 game against the Browns after he was out of the team’s facility for about two weeks while on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Mathieu was activated on Saturday.
“I mean, he’s a great player,” said the head coach. “Not taking anything away from the other guys — they did a nice job back there — but you’re obviously going to miss somebody like that. He’s one of your primary signal-callers back there, so it’ll be good to get him back in that role and keep the communication going.”
“I mean, it was a great experience for 22; Juan Thornhill had a nice day. [I was] proud of him for how he handled his business. He’s still going to play; he’s going to have an opportunity in different groupings that Spganuolo’s got. But we’ll be ready to get Tyrann back.”
After Sunday’s game, Reid said Clark was not quite ready to go. But it sounds like he will work toward playing this Sunday night.
