Chiefs celebrate first ‘Red Friday’ of ‘21 season; here’s how to get your flag

The flags will be sold for a minimum donation of $5 at Kansas City and St. Joseph-area McDonald’s restaurants.

The Kansas City Chiefs are celebrating “Red Friday” around the metro Friday, as the team prepares to open the season against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at 3:25 p.m. Arrowhead Time.

How to get your flag

Here’s how to secure your flag in person, according to friend-of-the-site Matt McMullen at Chiefs dot com:

Kansas City area and St. Joseph-area McDonald’s locations for a $5 donation beginning at 5 a.m. The flags – which will also be available at shop.chiefs.com for a $10 donation.

There is also a web option, shop.chiefs.com/. The flags come with different size options, with prices ranging from $10 to $69.99.

For the eighth straight year, the net proceeds from the sales will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City.

Last year, $1 million was raised for the Ronald McDonald House Charities, as Chiefs fans purchased the Super Bowl LIV championship edition of the flags.

Perhaps next year, the team will be selling Super Bowl LVI championship edition flags. Only time will tell.
