The Kansas City Chiefs had until 3 p.m. Arrowhead Time on Tuesday to get their roster down to 85 players. But they decided not to make players who were about to be released go through another training camp practice with the team, choosing to announce their roster moves before Tuesday morning’s session at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph.

Tight end Evan Baylis and wide receiver Antonio Callaway have been waived with injury designations. This means that if another team doesn't claim them before 3 p.m. Arrowhead Time on Wednesday, they will revert to the team’s Reserve/Injured list. Both players have missed a string of practices with injuries; Baylis has an ankle injury, while Callaway has a bone bruise.

Running back Elijah McGuire — who suffered a sprained ankle during Saturday night’s preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers — has been placed directly on injured reserve.

The team has also waived defensive back Manny Patterson and given an outright release to wide receiver Chad Williams, which brings their roster to 85 players.
