Patrick Mahomes given a 99 Madden rating for the third straight year

By the video game’s calculations, the Chiefs quarterback remains the NFL’s best.

Once again, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a member of the 99 Club for EA Sports’ Madden 22 video game.

Madden 20’s cover athlete — who won the Super Bowl that season — is now a three-time 99 overall in the game. I wouldn’t say this isn’t a shock, because Mahomes is sharing the Madden 22 cover with one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Tom Brady.

Mahomes’ hard work — day in and day out — has shown why he is the best quarterback in the NFL. You can see his growth through his Madden ratings: 76 overall in Madden 2018, 90 overall in Madden 19 and 99 overall in both Madden 20 and Madden 21.

With the weapons they have on offense, there is no reason for you not to play as the Chiefs when you get your copy of Madden 22. Earlier this week, we learned that wide receiver Tyreek Hill has a 98 overall and Travis Kelce is rated as a 99 overall. Both are part of the reason why Mahomes is once again a 99 overall. Mahomes’ playmaking abilities — and those of the players around him — make him an excellent quarterback to have.

Whether it is a left-handed pass or a no-look pass, we have watched Mahomes do the unthinkable. Is it time to see him become Madden’s very first 100 overall player? He has a rocket for an arm. He can drop the ball in a bucket from over 50 yards out. He has the agility to move around the pocket and away from defenders. He has sneaky speed.

If I were to guess who would be the first player to make Madden history by being rated 100 overall, it would have to be Mahomes.
