The Kansas City Chiefs’ annual process of getting training camp underway begins on Friday at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Quarterbacks and rookies are scheduled to report. We expect to hear from some of them — and head coach Andy Reid — through virtual press conferences on Friday afternoon.
On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, these players will participate in closed practices. While reporters will be allowed to observe these sessions, they will not be permitted to send live reports. But after both Saturday and Sunday’s practices, we expect that fully vaccinated reporters will be able to question selected players in person — something that hasn’t happened since the coronavirus pandemic began more than a year ago.
The rest of the team’s 90-man roster will report to camp on Monday — when Chiefs president Mark Donovan and Missouri Western president Dr. Elizabeth Kennedy will also hold their annual training camp press conference.
The team’s first full practice session will take place on Wednesday morning. Chiefs season ticket holders will be permitted to observe. The first public practice will occur on Thursday morning.
Unlike in past seasons, tickets for Chiefs training camp practices must be reserved ahead of time through ChiefsKingdomRewards.com. Except for the practices on Friday, July 30, Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 8, there is no charge for these tickets — but Missouri Western will charge $5 for parking on all public practice days.
