If there’s one thing we have seen over the years, it’s that athletes are significantly more respectful to their in-division counterparts than fans are. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s latest remarks on Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller are a prime example of that.
Just a dominant force!!! Love watching @Rackkwall83 play and he’s a even better guy when ya get to meet him. Keep shinin’ big dawg!!— Travis Kelce (@tkelce) July 15, 2021
Every year, NFL players cast their votes to determine the top 100 in the league heading into the new season. The results are then revealed on NFL Network’s “NFL Top 100.”
Waller barely made the cut at No. 99 overall in last year’s edition. But after he notched career-highs in catches (107), yards (1,196) and touchdowns (9), it’s safe to say he’ll be ranked much higher this time around.
In the eyes of most NFL analysts, Waller is viewed as the third-best tight end in the game behind Kelce and the San Francisco 49ers’ George Kittle. We can say with great confidence that most Arrowhead Pride readers believe Kelce is the top dog — even though some disagree with that notion.
Waller is tremendous on and off the field, but we don’t expect Chiefs fans to be this complimentary to the Raiders or their fans anytime soon.
And that’s the way it should be.
