“The Slippery Fox” impressed on the pro day circuit, catching balls for the likes of Trevor Lawrence and Ian Book, and now gets his shot with Patrick Mahomes.
Finke, 25, originally entered the NFL when he signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2020. He spent time on their practice squad throughout the season.
During his graduate season with Notre Dame in 2019, “The Slippery Fox” played in 13 games (nine starts), finishing with 456 receiving yards on 31 catches with four TDs. He also returned 20 punts on the season for 180 yards. Finke completed his Irish career with 106 receptions for 1,251 yards and eight touchdowns.
Pelissero noted that he caught balls for now-Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence during his pro day, which meant it was before the eyes of many teams in the NFL. Our sister site, One Foot Down, notes he is nicknamed “The Slippery Fox” due to his elusiveness and overall craftiness (on and off the field).
Perhaps he will be one of approximately eight or so receivers (including the practice squad) to slip his way onto the Chiefs’ 2021 roster.
