This article will host updates regarding Kansas City Chiefs rumors, pick reactions, trade updates, hot takes and more, while also serving as an open thread for discussion in the comments. The Chiefs do not have a Day 1 selection, but there is always the (very) outside chance they get back into the first round.

Stay tuned to Arrowhead Pride for the latest updates regarding Chiefs' moves — and also make sure to listen to our Arrowhead Pride Laboratory podcast that’ll be posted shortly after Round 1 concludes.

[7:46 p.m.] The draft started at three and we have a big surprise in Trey Lance out of North Dakota State. That’s the right choice. I did not get the Mac Jones love. (Kent Swanson)

[7:49 p.m.] Honestly stunned that SF went with Lance. If the goal was to go with the upside, just take the best QB in Fields. (Matt Lane)

[7:53 p.m.] Atlanta goes with Florida TE Kyle Pitts, arguably the second best prospect in the draft at pick number four. If they keep Julio Jones, that offense could be really fun. (Craig Stout)

[7:59 p.m.] Former Kansas commit Ja’Marr Chase off the board at five. What could have been. (Kent Swanson)

[8:02 p.m.] Is the NFL just being really dense about Penei Sewell here? Hopefully Miami is smarter than the average mammal. (Matt Lane)

[8:03 p.m.] It’s beyond time for Sewell to come off the board. (Craig Stout)

[8:14 p.m.] Justin Fields still being on the board while being such a good QB prospect is crazy. Carolina could go either way but they have been really high on Jaycee Horn this whole time. (Matt Lane)

[8:20 p.m.] Horn it is! We’ll see if the Broncos go with Fields here, I bet they didn’t think they’d have him available here. (Craig Stout)

[8:20 p.m.] Jaycee Horn wound up 8th on our board in the KC Draft Guide and CB1. (Kent Swanson)

[8:26 p.m.] Dallas has to be furious. Rumors had them going CB early in this year’s draft and the top two just flew off the board right in front of them. Potentially a trade back? (Craig Stout)

[8:33 p.m.] TRADE! Eagles come up two spots for a third round draft pick. Is this Fields? Devonta Smith? A defender? (Craig Stout)

[8:35 p.m.] Devonta Smith it is! The talented wide receiver didn’t have teams worried about his weight after all, and he goes 11th to the Eagles. (Craig Stout)

[8:39 p.m.] ANOTHER TRADE! The Chicago Bears make a move up to 12, presumably for a quarterback. Is it Fields or is it Jones? (Craig Stout)

[8:42 p.m.] Give me Fields or give me death. Justin Fields is a fantastic redemption tour for Pace. (Matt Lane)

[8:49 p.m.] Fields was my quarterback 2 in this class. I like the aggressive move. (Kent Swanson)

[8:53 p.m.] Micah Parsons is off the board at pick 12, giving a true three-down linebacker to the Cowboys. He’ll be an impact player for that defense. (Craig Stout)

[8:59 p.m.] Chargers land their blindside protection for Herbert with Rashawn Slater sliding to 13. Big get for them. (Matt Lane)

[9:05 p.m.] ANOTHER TRADE! The Jets trade up to 14 with Minnesota. Looking for offensive line help? Pass rusher? (Craig Stout)

[9:09 p.m.] The Jets take Alijah-Vera Tucker and add another athletic offensive lineman to their front. (Craig Stout)

[9:13 p.m.] Mac Jones off the board to New England. Low ceiling, but ideal fit in New England. (Kent Swanson)

[9:20 p.m.] Arizona just going full hybrid-defensive players on all three levels. Makes a ton of sense, assume the added weight was to play more EDGE than off-ball LB as well. (Matt Lane)

[9:26 p.m.] Las Vegas Raiders go with Alex Leatherwood — presumably to play offensive tackle. He struggled with power rushers at times in college, and that may play into Spagnuolo’s tendencies a little bit. (Craig Stout)

[9:32 p.m.] Jaelan Phillips is the first DE off the board. Best blend of size, athleticism, and technique in the draft at DE. Smart pick for a team that could use a star pass rusher. (Matt Lane)

[9:36 p.m.] Washington Football Team selects Kentucky linebacker Jamin Davis — the second linebacker off the board. A high-ceiling linebacker to go into Ron Rivera’s defense, and maybe a bit of a surprise to some. (Craig Stout)

[9:45 p.m.] Wow. Kadarius Toney going top 20 is something. Not every team has a gadget player so they have room to get him some manufactured touches. He’ll need them to produce in year one. (Kent Swanson)

[9:49 p.m.] Kwity Paye — rumored to be EDGE 1 in the class — finally comes off the board to the Indianpolis Colts. They add a dense athlete on the edge with high potential. (Craig Stout)

[9:59 p.m.] Another cornerback comes off the board in Caleb Farley to Tennessee. There were questions about his injuries, but the Titans take a swing at the position and could land a high-upside boundary cornerback. (Craig Stout)

[10:07 p.m.] Christian Darrisaw after a trade back is a big get for the Vikings. Talent is not a concern with tackle prospect. (Kent Swanson)

[10:11 p.m.] And the annual Round 1 RB is off the board. Najee Harris is gone to the Steelers in the worst kept secret of the 2021 NFL Draft after the first two picks.. (Matt Lane)

[10:23 p.m.] Travis Etienne joins his teammate Trever Lawrence in Jacksonville, making for the second round one running back in a row. (Craig Stout)

[10:27 p.m.] The Cleveland Browns catch great value at pick 26, picking up cornerback Greg Newsome II. They make a strength a strength and help develop a strong secondary. (Craig Stout)

[10:33 p.m.] A player that would have fit in nicely for the Chiefs goes to the Baltimore Ravens at their original pick in wide receiver Rashod Bateman. He’ll fit in nicely in that offense. (Craig Stout)

[10:39 p.m.] Big shock to the Saints! A player we liked a lot in the KC Draft Guide — Payton Turner — ends up in New Orleans in round one. He’s just the third EDGE rusher off the board in a pretty good class. Good for the Chiefs thus far if they keep getting pushed down. (Craig Stout)

[10:46 p.m.] Cornerback Eric Stokes goes to Green Bay as the fifth cornerback off the board. The Packers have a ton of speed in the secondary between Stokes and Jaire Alexander now. (Craig Stout)

[10:53 p.m.] The Buffalo Bills needed a pass rusher to try to contain Patrick Mahomes, and they select one at pick 30 with Gregory Rousseau. A bit of a gamble, but a moldable prospect that could really help their pass rush. The Baltimore Ravens are on the clock with the pick the Chiefs traded for Orlando Brown Jr. (Craig Stout)

[10:59 p.m.] With the former-Chiefs pick, the Ravens select defensive end Jayson Oweh, a player we were very high on in the KC Draft Guide — and a player we would have been ecstatic to land in Kansas City. (Craig Stout)

[11:03 p.m.] The run on EDGE continues with defensive end Joe Tryon to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After the board looked good for the Chiefs heading into the second day of the draft, three straight EDGE defenders come off the board and thin out a position of need. (Craig Stout)
