According to a report from WDAF-TV, Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark has pleaded not guilty to the first of two gun charges he faces in California.
The plea he entered on Monday relates to his arrest in March, in which Clark and another man were pulled over after police noticed the car in which they were riding wasn't displaying a valid vehicle license plate. During that traffic stop, police said they saw a weapon in a bag in the back seat of the vehicle — and also found two loaded guns in the car.
After his arrest, Clark was released after posting $35,000 in bail.
His next scheduled court appearance for this case is now set for Monday, Jan. 17, 2022. Normally, this would be the day following the NFL’s Wild Card weekend. But this season, the league is scheduling two of the six Wild Card games on Saturday, three more on Sunday and the last on Monday night.
Clark was also arrested after a similar incident in Los Angeles on June 20. In that case, Clark’s attorney Alex Spiro has maintained that the concealed weapon police had found actually belonged to Clark’s bodyguard.
