The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Washington Football Team 31-13 on Sunday, but they did leave the game with some injuries of note. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid provided some updates following the game:

Fullback Michael Burton

Burton hurt his left pec in the game. The Chiefs have him scheduled for an MRI. Reid has used the fullback for only four or five offensive plays a game, but he does have a more significant role on special teams.

Tight end Jody Fortson

As expected, the head coach announced that tight end Jody Fortson tore his Achilles, ending his season. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes said he spoke to Fortson after the game.

“He’s in good spirits,” said Mahomes.

Fortson made a nice 27-yard high-point catch against Washington before suffering the injury. He finishes his year with five catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns.

Linebacker Anthony Hitchens

Hitchens hurt his right elbow in the game. He is also scheduled for an MRI. Hitchens did not return to the game after leaving in the second quarter. Upon his departure, Ben Niemann took over his green-dot (communication) duties.

One more note

In a deleted tweet, safety Tyrann Mathieu said he fractured his thumb. We will see if we get an update on Mathieu from head coach Andy Reid on Monday.
