Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can add another accomplishment to his resumé: starting the 2020 season with a 99 rating in EASports’ “Madden 21” video game.

Despite being named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player by the Associated Press after the 2018 season, Mahomes — who graced the cover of “Madden 20” last year — has never begun the season with 99 rating assigned to the league’s best players in the longstanding NFL video game.
But on Monday morning, it was announced that as rumored last week, the reigning Super Bowl MVP will have the coveted 99 rating when the game is finally released on August 28.
Here’s the rest of the top 10:

Last year, just four virtual NFL players began their seasons the 99 grade: Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins (now traded to the Arizona Cardinals), Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack and Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner.
Ratings for each NFL will change once the season gets underway and EA integrates what takes place into their data — but Mahomes will start at the top of the heap.
More player ratings will be revealed during ESPN programming in the coming week, culminating with a special edition of “SportsCenter” on Friday, which will cover the remainder of the NFL player ratings.
