We told you on Tuesday that the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2020 schedule would be released on Thursday, May 7, but some additional information emerged on Wednesday.
While the NFL will release the league-wide schedule at 7 p.m. Arrowhead Time (with an appearance from head coach Andy Reid), it looks like the organization has received the OK to host an in-house slow-release show beginning at 6:15 p.m. on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, featuring old friend BJ Kissel and Chiefs Radio Network play-by-play host Mitch Holthus.
Our 2020 schedule will be announced exclusively on our live stream this Thursday on YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook! @KCMcDonalds pic.twitter.com/mDmdIIlSeP

Holthus added that the digital broadcast will welcome on Reid and Tyrann Mathieu for their instant reaction to the times and dates. He also might have dropped a hint about the home opener on Wednesday morning:
Unprecedented (at least since 2002) move coming? Regardless- some form and substance coming with information for #ChiefsKingdom Along with @ChiefsReporter WE will announce 2020 @chiefs schedule at 6:15pCDT! Chiefs YouTube-Twitter-Facebook pages. & LATEST from @MDChiefs 4fans

As Chiefs Wire’s Charles Goldman first noted, in that 2002 season, the reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots opened up their title defense on “Monday Night Football” against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The NFL could go that route again, even with the Kansas City Royals rescheduling that week to open up the Truman Sports Complex parking lot for what could be “Thursday Night Football.”
Again, here are the opponents the Chiefs will face in 2020:
HOME — Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Houston Texans, New England Patriots, New York Jets
ROAD — Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Due to the current circumstances, it appears the NFL will pit the AFC against the NFC during the first four weeks of the season. That means the Chiefs will see the Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers early.
.@JohnClaytonNFL tells @937theFan that the NFL schedule will be NFC vs AFC for the 1st 4 weeks of the season. Steelers play the NFC East. So 1st 4 games would be Cowboys, Eagles, Redskins, and Giants.

As we explained on Wednesday, much of the 2020 schedule information is likely to leak before Thursday’s official announcement, so stay tuned here at Arrowhead Pride for the latest news and rumors. We will have full coverage of the schedule release.
