Over the weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs released the dates and times for the four preseason opponents announced on May 7.
2020 Preseason Schedule
Wk 1 | Sat Aug 15 | Bengals | Arrowhead Stadium Kansas City | KSHB/41 7:00 pm |
Wk 2 | Sat Aug 22 | @Cardinals | University of Phoenix Stadium Phoenix | KSHB/41 8:00 pm |
Wk 3 | Sat Aug 29 | @Cowboys | AT&T Stadium Dallas | KSHB/41 7:00 pm |
Wk 4 | Thu Sep 3 | Packers | Arrowhead Stadium Kansas City | KSHB/41 7:00 pm |
Just like last season, it begins with the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday, August 15. The Chiefs won the 2019 game 38-17 — their only victory of the preseason.
Then on Saturday, August 22, they’ll travel to Tempe to play the Arizona Cardinals, followed by a road matchup with the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, August 29.
They’ll close the preseason the same way they did in 2019: with a Thursday night game against the Green Bay Packers on September 3. Last season, they lost the preseason finale 27-20 at Lambeau Field. This year, they’ll play the Packers at Arrowhead exactly one week before the regular-season opener against the Houston Texans.
All except the Dallas game will start at 7 p.m. Arrowhead Time. The Cowboys game will begin at 8 p.m. As part of the team’s new local TV broadcast partnership, all will be carried locally by KSHB/41. While they will be found on a different channel, the broadcasts will continue to be produced by the team’s in-house 65 Toss Power Trap Productions, and will look much the same as they have in previous seasons.
Of course, this is all a best-case scenario assuming plans will not change as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Should the opening of team training camps be delayed, it’s a safe bet that among the first things to be cancelled will be one or two of each team’s preseason games.
As always, the team’s full schedule and results may be found under the Resources tab at the top of most Arrowhead Pride pages.
