NFL’s top 10 rivalries in 2020: Chiefs vs. Ravens tops the board | NFL.com
1) Kansas City Chiefs vs. Baltimore Ravens
Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are already the next great AFC quarterback rivalry, following in the footsteps of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Some of you might think I’m jumping the gun here, but I’m not. Mahomes and Jackson have captured the last two NFL MVP awards. Mahomes went from winning league MVP in his first season as a starter to winning Super Bowl MVP in his second. That’s the NFL equivalent of putting out Star Wars and following that up with The Empire Strikes Back. (My inner-nerd is REALLY shining through in this piece. Sorry not sorry.) What’s next is for Jackson to step up this season in the playoffs. And really, the only thing missing from this rivalry is an epic playoff showdown. But first, we’ll just have to settle for another regular-season matchup — this time in Baltimore. (Don’t forget: Mahomes and Co. defended Arrowhead Stadium and handed the Ravens one of two regular-season losses in 2019.) Something tells me Chiefs at Ravens is going to get prime-time love from NFL schedule makers.
How NFL Players Are Handling an Unusual Offseason Amid Coronavirus | SI
“I think it’s a good thing,” Schwartz said, though obviously the word good in these circumstances is all relative. “Pushing the start later means some guys will come back more ready to get right back into the swing of things, because we get to take a little more time to get our bodies right. … For me, personally, being an older guy, to get that little extra rest helps. When you start OTAs, we were going to have lost five weeks of that, and this will probably build it back in.”
2012 NFL Draft do-over: Colts take Luck; Foles saves Browns? | NFL.com
Dontari Poe - DT
Original pick: Dontari Poe, DT.
It can be argued that Poe was overdrafted, particularly if you view his career through the prism of sack production (he had just 13 in five seasons with the Chiefs). But he was extremely stout against the run in Kansas City, supplied his fair share of quarterback hits (30) and was durable enough to play in 78 games and earn two Pro Bowl nods before leaving the Chiefs for the Falcons as a free agent in 2017. It was amazing how well the NFL Scouting Combine star moved for a 346-pounder.
Five Things to Know About New Chiefs’ OL Mike Remmers | The Mothership
3. He’s versatile along the offensive line
Remmers has started in the NFL at every spot along the offensive line with the exception of center during his career. He was exclusively a right tackle in New York, but he was the Vikings’ starting right guard in 2018 and spent time at both interior guard positions as recently as 2017.
“Wanted to let you know that my family and I are doing well,” Sorensen said to start. “This is a difficult time for a lot of us. We are thinking of you, praying for you guys. I am excited for football season and hope to see you guys soon.”
Sorensen then went on to extol the virtues of exercise, in whatever form or fashion it might be, including pushups, situps or bench-pressing children.
“However you can do it, just get it done,” he said.
The Ringer’s Post-Free-Agency NFL Big Board and Mock Draft | The Ringer
32. Damon Arnette
Cornerback
Ohio State, redshirt senior
Tough cornerback who makes plays on the ball, knows how to defend the run, and offers schematic versatility.
Round 1 - Pick 32
Noah Igbinoghene CB
Their corner situation isn’t good, so why not take a solid cover player from a big-time program? This kid can fly.
Four-round 2020 NFL mock draft: Six trades shake up Round 1 | NFL.com
32 Terrell Burgess - CB
School: Utah | Year: Senior
Burgess is considered a safety by many, but I think he could play in the slot and even outside if given the chance. The Chiefs could use help at both spots.

2020 NFL Draft will go on as scheduled April 23-25 | NFL.com
“Because of the unique circumstances in our country today, the 2020 Draft will obviously need to be conducted in a different way. Already, we have cancelled all public events, we will not be bringing prospects and their families to the Draft, and the draft itself will be conducted and televised in a way that reflects current conditions.
TE Jimmy Graham responds to critics of Bears’ move: ‘I’m still fast’ | ESPN
“It’s just like Kansas City’s offense, and this is the closest I’ve gotten to being in an offense back when I was with New Orleans,” Graham said. “For me moving forward, it was about looking at what teams had in place — a great defense because you can’t win deep in the playoffs without a great defense, and then the right system for myself. That was kind of the biggest draw for me was a coach and a system that use a tight end the way I know how to be used.
Bears, Redskins, Texans did what?! 10 head-scratching NFL moves | Yard Barker
Texans sign Eric Murray to a three-year, $20.5 million deal
Here is a good example of the player who’s unlikely to get every dollar out of this deal, another highly questionable move by Houston. The Texans’ secondary was poor last year, but Houston was overly aggressive in signing Murray, a depth player who does his best work on special teams. Oh, the former Brown is also coming off a knee injury as well.
The Raiders need to be big spenders to start their Vegas era off right | SB Nation
Despite the strange addition of Jason Witten for $5 million to a crowded tight end depth chart, the Raiders have added some huge pieces in linebackers Cory Littleton and Nick Kwiatkoski, and quarterback Marcus Mariota. The linebackers should make the unit a strength for the first time in many years. Here’s what they should be looking for going into the draft.
Wide receiver: The Raiders signed Nelson Agholor to a one-year deal. It’s an interesting signing because Agholor was a first-round pick who still has a ton of upside, but he’s not the reliable target that Carr (or Mariota) need. They need a No. 1 guy, preferably with their top draft pick.
Inside 2020 NFL free-agent contract numbers: Who really got the best deals? | ESPN
Which free agents got the best deals?
The 49ers really like Arik Armstead. San Francisco rarely guarantees the second year’s salary in its deals, but agent Chafie Fields got one here. The defensive lineman gets a $17.5 million signing bonus and fully guaranteed salaries of $2.5 million in 2020 and $6.65 million in 2021, plus a fully guaranteed $7.5 million option bonus paid in 2021. So, $34.15 million fully guaranteed at signing and paid out in the first two years.

How the Chiefs could structure a new contract for Chris Jones
Pay Jones more than Clark
This contract is worth $106 million, including $63 million guaranteed.. It would give Jones a $32 million signing bonus that would cut the team’s additional 2020 cap space to $8.7 million. Like the first deal, it gives Jones a $19.4 cap hit in 2021, but the cap hits in both 2022 and 2023 are the highest of any of these three deals.
This structure is based on a simple idea: Jones is angry because in 2019, the Chiefs traded for Frank Clark instead coming to terms with him. Therefore, he’s not willing to agree to a Chiefs deal unless it pays him what Clark got — or maybe a little more. This deal would satisfy that requirement.
