Report: Chiefs to pick up 2020 option on Damien Wilson

The Chiefs originally signed Wilson to a two-year deal last offseason. They have now made decisions on all three of their 2020 options.

The Kansas City Chiefs plan to pick up the 2020 option on linebacker Damien Wilson, according to Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star.

Wilson, 26, registered 81 tackles (52 solo), including 12 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four quarterback hits, one pass defensed and one forced fumble in 2019. Wilson added 19 tackles (13 solo), including one for loss, in the postseason.

The Chiefs signed Wilson last offseason to a two-year, $5,750,000 contract to play alongside his former Dallas Cowboys teammate, Anthony Hitchens. Wilson started all 16 games for the Chiefs, logging the most snaps (709) of any linebacker on the Chiefs during the 2019 season.

The Chiefs have now made decisions on all three of their 2020 options — letting offensive lineman Cam Erving walk while retaining both running back Damien Williams and Wilson.
