Where the Chiefs’ roster stands as the offseason begins

Let’s take a look at which players are still under contract for 2020 — and which ones are not.

Your Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs were the last team to enter the offseason period. Officially, they entered at the same time as the San Francisco 49ers — but first, the team had to attend to this little matter of a championship parade.

Here are the 34 healthy players the Chiefs currently have under contract for 2020. Players marked with an asterisk (*) may be retained at the club’s option:

Note: We have listed defensive back Davon Grayson (who finished the season on injured reserve) and wide receiver Gehrig Dieter (who finished the season on the practice squad) as unrestricted free agents.

Grayson’s contract appears to have been terminated. Dieter’s status is currently unknown. The other nine players on the practice squad at the end of the season were signed to reserve/future contracts on February 4. At this writing, neither Spotrac or OverTheCap lists Dieter as being under contract with the Chiefs.
