Some notes
- The Chiefs’ injury report came with bad news and good news on Wednesday. First, the bad news — right tackle Mitch Schwartz (back) did not return to practice. He has not practiced since October 17 and missed the last two games. It seems as though the Chiefs might sit him another week into the bye, giving him two more weeks to rest his back. Defensive end Frank Clark (knee) popped up on the report and also missed the first workout of the week.
- The good news is that three Chiefs returned to the practice field. More on that here. The Chiefs are easing wide receiver Sammy Watkins (hamstring) back in with his limited participation. Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (shoulder) does not appear on the injury report, as he needs to be activated from injured reserve first.
- Like Sneed, Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey (ankle) is designated to return but still on injured reserve, so he does not appear on the report. McCaffrey reportedly looked “sharp” in his first padded practice on Wednesday. He has missed the Panthers’ last six games.
- The Panthers’ key player to watch is rookie safety Jeremy Chinn (knee), who has been outstanding for them this season. He did not practice on Wednesday.
