Mahomes was 31 of 42 for 416 yards and five passing touchdowns in the Chiefs’ 35-9 win over the New York Jets.
This is Mahomes’ fifth weekly award win since being drafted by the Chiefs in 2017. It is his second weekly award of the season. Mahomes also won AFC offensive player of the week for his Week 3 five-touchdown effort on Monday Night Football against the Baltimore Ravens.
Mahomes connected with four different receivers — Tyreek Hill (2), Mecole Hardman (1), Demarcus Robinson (1) and Travis Kelce — on his five scores against the Jets.
In the other AFC awards, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt won defensive player of the week and Miami Dolphins returner Jakeem Grant won special teams player of the week.
