The Game

The Kansas City Chiefs return to Arrowhead Stadium for their Week 8 game against the New York Jets. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon (Arrowhead Time) on Sunday. The game will be broadcast on CBS — locally on KCTV/5.

The Chiefs come into the game 6-1 after a 43-16 road victory against the Denver Broncos last Sunday. The Jets are 0-7 on the season, coming off an 18-10 home loss to the Buffalo Bills.

The Chiefs offense is led by reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, who is on pace to throw for 3,400 yards, 28 touchdowns and two interceptions in 2020. His current passer rating of 109.8 ranks fifth in the NFL. Jets starting quarterback Sam Darnold — a first-round draft pick in 2018 — has already missed two games with a right shoulder injury, but did play in last week’s game. Through seven games, he is having his worst season as a pro, completing 58.4% of his passes for only 912 yards, three touchdowns and six interceptions.

With a victory on Sunday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid would move ahead of Hall of Fame coach Paul Brown with 214 career wins. Reid is in his 22nd season as an NFL head coach — his eighth with the Chiefs. Jets head coach Adam Gase is in this 11th year in the head-coaching ranks, having taken over the Jets in 2019 after nine seasons at the helm of the Miami Dolphins. He has compiled a 7-16 record in New York.

While the two teams were both charter members of the American Football League, they have faced each other in just 37 regular-season games since 1960. The Jets have not won a game at Arrowhead since 1992.

Other COVID-19 notes: Know your zone — which is found on your ticket — and have a plan to enter through the assigned parking and stadium gates. Circumnavigation of the stadium is not permitted in order to minimize contact with other guests. Wear your masks at all times — even when seated. Fans must wear masks into the stadium, but each fan will receive a mask supplied by the team in their cupholder. Maintain social distancing along your entire journey and wait for aisles to clear before exiting your seats. Please have patience — and know that everyone is in this together.
