Our friends at OddsChecker sent over an interesting note regarding the Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots matchup on Sunday. The Patriots are seven-point underdogs as they travel to Kansas City, the most points they have received since September 7, 2003 — an opening-day game against the Buffalo Bills.
If you’re curious, then-quarterback Tom Brady finished 14 of 29 for 123 yards in that game, throwing four interceptions. Former Patriots Drew Bledsoe and Lawyer Milloy led the way in a 31-0 victory.
The majority of the betting public thinks that is too many points to give Bill Belichick and company, with nearly 70% backing the Patriots at plus-seven points against the Chiefs. Still, 75% of bettors have picked the Chiefs straight up.
One final odds note: after a week or two off, Patrick Mahomes is back in the NFL MVP race following his five-touchdown performance against the Baltimore Ravens. Mahomes’ odds have shortened to +400, behind only Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson at +275.
