UPDATE: 1:50 pm Arrowhead Time on Tuesday
After a flurry of reports — some from less-than-reliable sources — indicated that the Chiefs were indeed interested in making a deal for Ramsey, Jeffri Chadiha doubled down on his report from Tuesday morning. And then his report was amplified by The Athletic’s Nate Taylor.
I’ve also heard similar statements from folks within the Chiefs organization. https://t.co/MruCI0T37Y

An earlier tweet from ESPN’s Dianna Russini raised speculation that the Chiefs were the AFC team offering a first-round pick and a player for Ramsey.
There are teams interested in trading with the Jacksonville Jaguars for Jalen Ramsey. This is what I am told has been offered so far: a 1st in 2020 & 5th in 2021 from an NFC Team and a 1st in 2020 & a player from an AFC Team

But then there’s this from MMQB writer Albert Breer:
Per rival clubs, the asking price for Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey is two first-round picks.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) September 17, 2019
That's a starting point. And added to what it'd cost to extend Ramsey, it's a lot. But it's not totally crazy, given what Seattle got for Frank Clark and Miami got for Laremy Tunsil.
Adding all of this together...
Even if Chadiha’s reports are wrong — meaning that the Chiefs are making a play for Ramsey — and they are the team offering a first-round pick and a player for the Jaguars cornerback, then Breer’s report would suggest that the offer isn’t enough for the Jaguars.
UPDATE: 8:01 AM Arrowhead Time on Tuesday
According to a report from NFL Network host Jeffri Chadiha, the Chiefs are not interested in making a deal for Jalen Ramsey.
@Chiefs source says the team isn’t interested in @Jaguars CB @jalenramsey now that he wants a trade. Source says the team’s locker room “is too good right now.” The team did ask @AZCardinals about CB Patrick Peterson earlier this year and was “emphatically told no.”

Another interesting note about Chadiha’s tweet is that he references the Chiefs inquiring about making a deal for Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson earlier this year. Although he’s saying the Cardinals flatly refused to discuss a deal, it is the first time we’re aware of a credible report the Chiefs actually had interest in making a deal for Peterson; all other reports of a possible trade were speculative.
According to the usual suspects (NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter), Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey has requested a trade.
Rapoport added that Ramsey has not been happy playing zone coverage in Jacksonville.
One of the best pure cover corners, Jalen Ramsey wants to play man-to-man and lock a WR down. One issue has been having him play zone https://t.co/7RIlT8bx4X

Ramsey’s usage is what may have led to this mid-game confrontation:

Schefter reports that the Jaguars are seeking at least one first-round draft pick in return for Ramsey. The trade could happen as early as this week, per Schefter.
One league source said he believes Jaguars’ CB Jalen Ramsey could be traded this week, that once there is a sideline confrontation between a head coach and a player, both sides have to move on.

With the Chiefs having a deficiency at the cornerback position, it is easy to wonder if general manager Brett Veach makes a move here. Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo uses quite a bit of zone coverage, but playing for a legitimate Super Bowl contender might change Ramsey’s tune.
Ramsey would unquestionably become the Chiefs’ best cornerback if Kansas City were to make the trade. Veach has said in the past that elite players don’t become available often, and this would certainly be one of those cases.
Head coach Andy Reid called Ramsey “a heck of a football player” leading into the Chiefs’ Week 1 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
So... what do you think?
