Welcome to another edition of the Beer of the Week!
As always, the Beer of the Week will be presented on the Arrowhead Pride Tailgate on 610 Sports Radio between 10 a.m. and Noon Sunday.
Having just gained distribution to Kansas and Missouri in the past year, this week’s Beer of the Week is one of my favorite underrated gems. Hailing from the Denver area, we’re highlighting Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project Colorado WildSage Brett Saison!

This 7.2 percent ABV saison is unfiltered, with Brettanomyces adding a little tart flavor to the traditional Saison funkiness. Colorado WildSage is made with all Colorado ingredients, including the white sage and lemongrass that add a hint of spiciness to the overall body of the beer.
Kansas City loves their saisons — Boulevard’s Tank 7 Farmhouse and Brett Saison are both coveted within the city limits — so this beer could add another to the saison-lover’s repertoire. It also comes in a can, making it portable and easy to bring to your next tailgate.
Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project was formed in 2010 with the purpose of making barrel-aged and sour beers — specifically those implementing Brettanomyces. Owner-brewer Chad Yakobson wrote his master’s thesis on the strains of Brettanomyces implemented in the brewing industry and the brewery is the culmination of his research. They make fantastic, complex beers that are incredibly well-crafted with high attention to little details in their additions to the beer. I highly recommend picking up any of their offerings.
If you can, make sure to swing by your local liquor store and scoop up some Crooked Stave Colorado WildSage this weekend!
