The United States Navy’s world-famous aerial acrobatic team the Blue Angels is in Kansas City over the Fourth of July weekend to appear at the Kansas City Air Show at the downtown airport.

When they appear at such events, the Angels always take local celebrities on what are known as “check ridesin the F/A-18 fighter jets they fly. It’s a great way to promote the local air show, the Blue Angels and the Navy itself.

On Friday, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Demarcus Robinson had the opportunity to take one of these check rides — and it’s therefore our patriotic duty to share photos and videos from his experience.

Just like everybody who gets the opportunity for a check ride, Robinson had a briefing before the flight so he could learn how to breathe during the high G-forces he would experience. And he had to trade his Chiefs helmet for another one.

Robinson posted some videos he took from the rear seat of the F/A-18.

Afterwards, Robinson told the press that thanks to his pre-flight training, he never puked or passed out during his check ride.

The Kansas City Air Show takes place Saturday and Sunday (July 6-7) at Kansas City’s Charles B. Wheeler downtown airport.
