Chiefs sign a third tryout player from mandatory minicamp

Linebacker D’Juan Hines maxes out Kansas City’s roster at 90 players.

Add another mandatory minicamp tryout signee to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs have also signed linebacker D’Juan Hines, according to the NFL’s official transaction report.

Hines, 24, is a 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker who played college football at Houston. He first entered the league as a 2018 undrafted free agent with the Los Angeles Chargers. Hines was signed to the Chargers practice squad in early September of 2018 but the Cleveland Browns signed him later that month.

Hines played in 13 games for the Browns, compiling four tackles (two solo) before his May 2019 release. After making the most of his mandatory minicamp tryout with the Chiefs, Hines now completes their 90-man roster.

During his final year at Houston in 2017, Hines led Houston with 110 total tackles (57 solo). He led Houston and The American with three forced fumbles and also tallied 6.5 tackles for loss on the year. Hines was named to the 2017 American All-Conference first team.
