Patrick Mahomes will have “bazooka” ability, no-look pass in Madden NFL 20

The Madden team revealed that and more at its EA Play 2019 event over the weekend.

First, something you already knew: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is the cover athlete of Madden NFL 20, set to be released on August 2.

But what you may not know is some news that came through over the weekend via EA Sports’ EA Play 2019 event—Mahomes is also the ambassador for a new mode called “Face of the Franchise,” in which players create a college quarterback with the challenge of developing him into the starting quarterback for a team in the NFL.

“I’ve always loved competing,” Mahomes says in the trailer. “And to me, there’s no added pressure. There’s no added expectations. That’s stuff I’ve put on myself since I was a little kid. I feel like I’m that same guy that’s been putting in the time and the work my whole entire life. Now it’s about pushing myself every single day to get better. It’s about passion and going out there and having fun. You have to make sure that you’re just evolving and never being satisfied with where you’re at. Coming to the league it seems like every single year there’s some different guy that’s just faster and stronger and bigger and so you have to find different ways to get better and those are the guys that find ways to win in the end. Every single year from college to coming into the league and as my career goes on I just keep getting better and better at the approach for each play and recognizing what you need to do to have success. The first time I ever ran out the tunnel in front of that crowd. it was a surreal feeling and I’ll never forget it. My expectation was to win the Super Bowl and I fell just short of that. You use that stuff as motivation. This is just the beginning.”

Madden NFL 20 will debut another new feature called “X-factor ability,” and for Mahomes, that’s a “bazooka” ability, which will increase his max throwing distance. Mahomes will also have “escape artist,” “dashing deadeye” and “red zone deadeye” in his repertoire.

Mahomes’ no-look pass will also be featured, which is apparently still very true to real life.

Tweeting about the no-look passes in Madden, Chiefs linebacker Darron Lee said “Can you stop doing this in practice? I thought it was a myth but Jesus Christ bro.”

It really feels like the Chiefs are about to be the “unfair team no one is allowed to be” this year, usually an unofficial distinction given to the New England Patriots.

But forget that. If you’re a Chiefs fan who loves Madden reading this article, after years of waiting, you’ve more than earned the right to use them.
