Kansas City Chiefs Fatal Flaw: Tyreek Hill
Defensively this won’t suddenly be a team that is great overnight. They can improve and getting Frank Clark and Emmanuel Ogbah helps. You can squint and see a decent 4-3 defense. I’m more worried about what happens if Tyreek Hill is suddenly not on the roster or suspended for a lengthy amount of time. There are lots of weapons with Sammy Watkins and Travis Kelce. Patrick Mahomes is a generational talent. But Hill makes this offense HUM and the Chiefs clearly agree, because they drafted Mecole Hardman early in the 2019 NFL Draft. If Hill goes missing, Andy Reid will have a challenge on his hands.
Ranking the NFL’s top ‘triplets’ from 32-1 for the 2019 season | CBS Sports
2. Kansas City Chiefs (2.4)
QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Damien Williams, TE Travis Kelce
The Chiefs not landing at No. 1 is a bit of a surprise given the way they scorched the league last season, but Kareem Hunt’s suspension and eventual release, and the uncertainty surrounding Tyreek Hill knock them back from the No. 1 perch. Still, it’s tough to compete with Mahomes and Kelce, and Williams looked great in his first run as the lead back last year.
Who Wants to Take on the Chaos and Be the Next GM of the New York Jets? | Sports Illustrated
And while we’re there, amid all of Wednesday’s tumult, it took less than 12 hours for Gase to ship out Maccagnan’s big first-round miss as GM—linebacker Darron Lee. The previous regime had discussed a Lee trade with the Chiefs for a few weeks and was holding firm in asking for a fifth-round pick. Shortly after Maccagnan was fired, Kansas City sensed opportunity, and called to offer their 2020 sixth-round pick for Lee, who the Chiefs view as one of the best pure cover linebackers in football.
Are changes upcoming for PI penalty challenges? | NFL
When NFL owners meet next week, they will be asked to consider a change to overtime and to the possibility of tweaking the new rule to allow challenges of pass interference penalties.
Less likely to receive approval is the Kansas City Chiefs’ proposal to change overtime. The Chiefs, who lost to the Patriots in overtime of the AFC Championship Game without Patrick Mahomes ever touching the ball, proposed a rule in March that would guarantee each team a possession in overtime of regular and postseason games. But the proposal had little support at the annual meeting and it was tabled. Now it is back, although it has not been amended.
How Kliff Kingsbury is assembling an Arizona air raid roster | SB Nation
Different QBs can work wonders in versions of the air raid. Patrick Mahomes was great at Kingsbury’s Texas Tech because he had a brilliant arm and mastered the ins and outs. Now Murray’s running talent will allow Kingsbury to try some things he couldn’t do as often with Mahomes.
How Should NFL Teams Build Around the $30 Million Quarterback? | The Ringer
Along with getting the extra picks from Kansas City, the Seahawks traded down so many times in this year’s draft that they went from having a league-low four picks to having 11 selections by the time the draft was over. According to ESPN’s Seth Walder, all of Schneider’s wheeling and dealing netted Seattle the draft capital equivalent of a top-10 pick. Plus, the team chose to keep its wallet relatively closed in free agency; the Seahawks are projected to get third- and fourth-round compensatory 2020 picks because of it.
The key to an approach like Seattle’s, of course, is for those draft picks to turn into a championship-caliber roster around [Russell] Wilson.

Broncos QB Lock: Flacco has ‘been great to me’ | ESPN
“He’s taught me a lot so far,” Lock told TMZ. “He’s dealing with winning football games, I’m dealing with trying to learn. ... We’re in the same quarterback room. He’s been great to me.”
Lee excited to play alongside Smith and Vander Esch | NFL
“That’s a dream come true to play with two young guys who love football,” [Sean] Lee said of lining up alongside [Leighton] Vander Esch and [Jaylon] Smith, via the Dallas Morning News. “All-Pro players who played unbelievable last year and really willed our team from a tough record early in the season, to snap back and get into the playoffs is really because of those guys, how well they played and the whole group, the whole defense.”
From 2011-14, McPhee racked up 17 sacks with the Ravens, but injuries have since taken a toll
If Robert Kraft is exonerated, what happens next? | NBC Sports Pro Football Talk
It will be a delicate issue, given the league’s aggressive treatment of players who were never arrested or charged and the refrain that owners are held to a higher standard than players. But an examination of the plain language of the Personal Conduct Policy makes it difficult to find the basis for a violation, absent sufficient evidence under the league’s reduced standard that solicitation of prostitution occurred.
The Packers have been busy this offseason, but a few more moves would help them make it back to the Super Bowl
Cam Newton, Bears among those in need of good luck in 2019 | NFL
The Raiders need ... Jon Gruden and Antonio Brown to like each other. This one is pretty self-explanatory, no?

What Patrick Peterson’s 6-game suspension means for the Chiefs
At this exact moment, Peterson’s value is at an all-time low—and he probably won’t be moved anytime soon. Our Kent Swanson speculates the Cardinals would be best suited to wait until the middle of the season to try to shop the three-time All-Pro.
