NFL players have regularly been featured on the cover of Madden since the year 2001, and during that time, no Kansas City Chiefs player has earned the honor (we’re not counting you, Peyton Hills).
That was until Thursday night, when Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named the Madden NFL 20 cover athlete.

The honor comes after a season in which Mahomes threw for 50 touchdowns and more than 5,000 yards en route to becoming the first player in Chiefs franchise history to earn the AP NFL MVP award.
And don’t worry. If Mahomes can do this, he should have no problem breaking some silly curse.
