FanPulse: Chiefs fans weigh in on the team’s biggest need

The SB Nation FanPulse is back for the 2019 season.

Many of you here at Arrowhead Pride began being polled last year on various things concerning the Kansas City Chiefs and matters across the NFL. This is part of SB Nation’s FanPulse tool, which sends weekly questions to the city’s most plugged-in and dedicated Chiefs fans via email.

If you are interested in joining the Chiefs’ FanPulse, please sign up here.

This week, we asked Chiefs fans to weigh in on the team’s top need in the NFL Draft. The choices were defensive end, safety and cornerback.

What is the Chiefs’ top need in the NFL Draft?

69 percent of Chiefs fans said the cornerback position

22 percent of Chiefs fans said the defensive end position

7 percent of Chiefs fans said the safety position

This is no surprise, though I would personally lean toward the defensive end/EDGE position. The Chiefs have names such as Kendall Fuller, Bashaud Breeland, Charvarius Ward and Keith Reaser at cornerback, whereas the Chiefs have Breeland Speaks, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Emmanuel Ogbah and Alex Okafor potentially at defensive end.

From an experience and performance standpoint, the Chiefs seem stronger at cornerback.

I’m also surprised that given the Chiefs’ starters at safety right now are Tyrann Mathieu and Daniel Sorensen (some of you will make a case for Jordan Lucas), more fans didn’t vote for safety.

We also asked fans across the NFL a national question this week.

Who is the best player in the 2019 NFL Draft?

39 percent of fans like Ohio State EDGE Nick Bosa

26 percent of fans like Alabama defensive lineman Quinnen Williams

9 percent of fans like Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray

8 percent of fans like Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen

The Chiefs won’t sniff any of these players (we believe the highest they would ever trade up is No. 15 overall), but it is still interesting to see who fans across the league like the most.

Like most draft analysts, fans believe Ohio State EDGE Nick Bosa is the best player in the 2019 NFL Draft. I don’t disagree.
