The Kansas City Chiefs have announced the first date on their schedule, a 7:15 p.m. Arrowhead Time Monday Night Football matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chiefs will be the visiting team against the Chargers.
November 18 is Week 11 of the 2019 season, meaning the Chiefs’ bye week will in all likelihood happen Week 12.
The game will take place just a season removed from the Mexico City debacle. The Chiefs were scheduled to play the Los Angeles Rams at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City back on November 19 of the 2018 season, but when photos and videos began to reveal horrible field conditions in the week leading up to the game, the NFL pulled the plug and moved the game to the Los Angeles Coliseum.
The league will now give Estadio Azteca another opportunity.
The Chiefs and Chargers split their matchups in 2018, the Chiefs winning Week 1 and the Chargers winning Week 15. The New England Patriots ultimately eliminated both teams in the postseason.
An opportunity to take on an AFC West team at a neutral site would in most cases be a good thing for the Chiefs, but the Chargers don’t really draw all that well to LA, anyway, so that probably negates any new advantage.
The Chiefs’ full schedule is expected to be released Wednesday night at 7 p.m. Arrowhead Time. Join us on 610 Sports Radio as we react to the schedule live.
