Projected Draft Range: day two
I would take him in the: second round
One sentence bio: Five-star recruit who suffered an arm injury as a RS-Junior missing much of the year, but had great final season before suffering a hamstring injury late in the year.
One sentence scouting report: Long, well-built, but developing EDGE player who had setbacks that limited his opportunities to flash his raw traits.
Christian Miller, EDGE #47, was a situational pass rusher at Bama but has very intriguing bend and length for the NFL.— Matt Lane (@ChiefinCarolina) February 12, 2019
- Expl get off
- + Lateral agility
- Great balance when cornering
- Active hands to keep chest clean
- + Ankle flexion
- + Flexibility to dip around OTs pic.twitter.com/ffZtMCVjDF
How he fits in KC: Miller comes to the draft process with some injuries in his background, but if you’re looking to acquire a player that has upside as a pass rusher in round two, the Crimson Tide product could be a potential value, potentially as a SAM linebacker with some pass rush upside. While his first step isn’t great, Miller is capable of covering a lot of ground up the arc on his way to the quarterback. He is a very flexible player who should be able to bend the edge at the next level. He uses his length well and should hold up well in the run game. He possesses enough athleticism that he could potentially provide enough coverage ability to hold up as a SAM. He’d be another piece that Steve Spagnuolo could use in his pressure packages and could provide some production. Miller has the making of day-two gem if his health is good enough and he continues to develop as a player.
