Just call him Patrick Mahomes, NFL Draft analyst.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and reigning NFL most valuable player will join host Robin Roberts of Good Morning America on the set before the first pick on ABC’s opening-night draft coverage, as announced by the network in a press release Monday afternoon.
The release, which officially describes Mahomes’ role a “special guest,” adds, “Mahomes will offer perspective, looking back on his own draft experience and his first two seasons as an NFL quarterback.”
ESPN’s vice president of event and studio production Seth Markman further detailed how the network plans for Mahomes to be involved.
MARKMAN: “Patrick Mahomes will be among the many special guests who will be part of ABC’s first-ever prime time broadcasts of the NFL Draft. The MVP and one of the biggest stars in football today, our viewers will enjoy hearing about his personal draft experience and what it’s like for the players going through the draft process.”
The Chiefs traded up to 10th overall during the 2017 NFL Draft to select Mahomes, who will share that story and more with fans under the national spotlight. Whether it be through deals with companies such as Adidas and Oakley or being named the first “special guest” of the NFL Draft, Mahomes is continuing his rise as one of the game’s biggest stars this offseason.
The opening night of the NFL Draft is one month from Monday, on Thursday, April 25 at 7 p.m. Arrowhead Time.
