UFAs are free to negotiate a contract with any other team, or they could be resigned by team for which they played in the previous year. Salary Cap Space
Per OverTheCap.com, the Chiefs have $22,917,256 in cap space.
This figure does not include the new contract that has been negotiated for defensive end Frank Clark, which was reported to be for five years and $105 million.
Even though he’s been released from the team, this figure represents the cap space with Eric Berry’s contract still active. His contract will stay on the books until June 2. When it is removed, he Chiefs will have an additional $9.55 million in cap space. Next season, $8 million in dead money from Berry’s contract will count against the salary cap.
