On Monday night, KMBC-TV tweeted a story that you might remember from November:
Councilman floats idea of playing a Chiefs game in St. Louis https://t.co/7NCziMPNis pic.twitter.com/50Ff9KBfHI

So did KCTV — and after those two, numerous others.
This all started last year with this tweet from Kansas City councilman Quinton Lucas:
FWIW, I would have a Chiefs regular season home game in StL each year (probs an NFC match up). Good market expansion on cue w/all games on StL tv and radio. Close enough to offer STH’s seats. Allows total Midwestern domination by #ChiefsKingdom (at least south of I-80) https://t.co/MxOUWH1jad

The tweet — suggesting the Kansas City Chiefs play a home game in St. Louis every year — raised a firestorm. Back then, Lucas appeared on 610 Sports with Bob Fescoe to defend his position — and of course, the story was also picked up in St. Louis.
It’s important to remember the context in which Councilman Lucas raised this idea: in the midst of the controversy surrounding the Chiefs game in Mexico City against the Los Angeles Rams that was moved to Los Angeles when the field at Estadio Azteca proved to be unsuitable for an NFL game. As you’ll recall, the Chiefs had to give up home game to play in London in 2015, and many Chiefs fans didn’t like that idea at all.
As his tweet from mid-November shows, Councilman Lucas — who is a Chiefs season ticket holder — started out by making a joke about moving the Mexico City game to St. Louis instead of Los Angeles, and then made tried to make a more thoughtful point about growing fan bases in the United States instead of in other countries — as he acknowledged in a tweet on Tuesday.
Yeah, I heard about it on the news yesterday and I was like, wow... this is back! I should have been more artful with my point. I think the NFL international series is pointless & was making a point that didn’t land well then or now. Worry not, I’m not pushing for games to leave

So what do you think? Would the NFL be better off trying to expand regional fan bases instead of international ones? That’s Councilman Lucas’ main issue: he thinks international games are pointless.
Where do you stand on the matter?

If the Chiefs don’t have to give up a home game, I’d rather see them play in...
