Third drive: The Chiefs started the drive with a 6-yard run from McCoy. After another short run from McCoy, the Chiefs faced third-and-3 and converted thanks to a defensive holding call on New England. A sack on second down forced the Chiefs to face another third-and-long, but Mahomes completed a 21-yard pass to Hill to convert. A few plays later Mahomes completed a 48-yard touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman. Chiefs 10, Patriots 7
Fourth Drive: The drive started with a holding penalty on the Patriots. After a short scramble from Mahomes and a short completion to McCoy, the Chiefs faced third-and-5 in the red zone and completed a 20-yard pass to Kelce. A couple of plays later, the Chiefs faced third down again with goal to go. Kelce ran the ball in for a 4-yard touchdown. Chiefs 17, Patriots 7
Fifth drive: Darwin Thompson rushed for less than a yard to start the drive, but Mahomes then completed a 14-yard pass to Sammy Watkins. A 6-yard run from Spencer Ware put the Chiefs into Patriots territory. The Chiefs failed to convert on third, though, and were forced to punt.
Sixth drive: The Chiefs started the drive with a 19-yard screen pass to Thompson. A 16-yard pass to Hill put the Chiefs into field goal range and a 7-yard pass to Thompson put them into the red zone. The Chiefs faced third down a few plays later and couldn’t convert; they settled for a field goal. Chiefs 20, Patriots 7
Eighth drive: The Chiefs started the half with a 2-yard yard from McCoy. Mahomes followed it up with a 18-yards completion to Kelce. A 13-yard rush from McCoy put the Chiefs into Patriots territory. A couple of plays later, the Chiefs failed to convert on third-and-2. Opting to go for it on fourth down, they converted with a short run from Ware. After a short run and an incomplete pass, the Chiefs faced another third down, but could not convert and kicked a field goal. Chiefs 23, Patriots 7
Ninth drive: Mahomes started the drive with an incomplete pass to Hill. After a short scramble from Mahomes and a blown-up screen play, the Chiefs went three-and-out. The Patriots blocked the punt.
Tenth drive: The Chiefs started the drive with a 3-yard scramble from Mahomes. After a short run from Thompson, the Chiefs had third down, converting with a 3-yard completion to Sammy Watkins. A short pass to Hill put the Chiefs into New England territory. But on third down, Kelce fumbled, giving New England possession.
Eleventh drive: The Chiefs started the drive with a short completion to Hill and an offensive pass interference call. After a 12- yard completion to Demarcus Robinson, the Chiefs faced third down and could not convert.
Twelfth drive: The Chiefs started the drive with a short pass to Hill. After a short run from McCoy and a false start, the Chiefs faced 3rd-and-10 and could not convert.
Thirteenth drive: The Chiefs kneeled to end the game
First drive: The Chiefs were able to hold the Patriots’ first two runs of the game to only three yards, but the Patriots were able to convert on third down though with a pass interference call on the Chiefs. The Patriots faced third down again shortly after, and got another pass interference call to convert. Then the Patriots ran a trick play and scored on a 37-yard pass from Tom Brady to Julian Edelman. Second drive: The Patriots faced another early third-and-long, and Brady threw an incomplete pass to force a three-and-out and a punt.
Third drive: The Chiefs defense continued to have success stopping the run on the first play of the drive, holding Rex Burkhead to just two yards. But the Patriots had success throwing the ball, completing passes of 10 or more yards on back-to-back plays. After driving 55 yards in 12 plays, the Brady threw an incomplete pass on third down. Tanoh Kpassagnon blocked Nick Folk’s 41-yard field goal attempt.
Fourth drive: Brady threw his first interception of the game on the first play of the drive.
Fifth drive: The Patriots got their longest run of the game on the first play of the drive with a 19-yard run from James White. An 18-yard pass to Edelman got New England into field goal range. The Patriots faced third down a couple of plays later, but an incomplete pass forced fourth down. The Patriots went for it, but Brady threw another incomplete pass to give Kansas City possession.
Sixth drive: Two incomplete passes and a short completion gave the Patriots a three-and-out, which forced them to punt the ball away.
Seventh drive: After a sack by Frank Clark forced a third-and-long for the Patriots, Brady completed a short pass to White, but failed to convert.
Eighth drive: New England started the drive with a dropped pass from White. After a completion to Edelman, the Patriots faced third down and Chris Jones ended the drive with a sack.
Ninth drive: Already in the red zone, the Patriots first run of the drive went for nine yards. Brandon Bolden ran for a 10-yard touchdown on the following play. The Patriots failed on the two-point conversion. Chiefs 23, Patriots 13
Tenth drive: The Patriots started the drive with an 8-yard run from Edelman. After a few plays, New England faced their first third down of the drive and converted with a pass interference call against the Chiefs. A 12-yard pass to N’Keal Harry gave the Patriots goal to go. Alex Okafor got a sack on third down to force the Patriots to kick a field goal. Chiefs 23, Patriots 16
Eleventh drive: New England started the drive with a 2-yard run. After back-to-back completions for 30 yards, a short completion and incomplete pass gave the Patriots third-and-long. Brady was forced to throw it away and the Patriots punted.
Twelfth drive: The Patriots started the drive with a trick pass from White to Jakobi Meyers for 35 yards. After an incomplete pass and a false start penalty, the Patriots had third-and-6 and could not convert. The Patriots went for it on fourth down and Brady scrambled for 17 yards to convert. A few plays later, the Patriots faced third-and-long again and got a 9-yard completion to face 4th-and-3. Brashaud Breeland broke up the pass to give the Chiefs possession.
Tanoh Kpassagnon blocked Nick Foles’ 41-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter. Charvarius Ward recovered the block.
The Patriots blocked a Dustin Colquitt punt.
