With the completion, Kelce gained his 1000th receiving yard for the fourth-straight season. A defensive pass interference call put the Chiefs into field goal range. They faced third down again a couple of plays later and converted with a 10-yard catch by Mecole Hardman. Seventh drive: Thompson started the drive with a 12-yard run. A couple of plays later. Kelce caught yet another deep pass for 21 yards. Mahomes completed another deep pass to Bell for 30 yards — but on the very next play, threw an interception in front of Hill at the 1-yard line.
Eighth drive: The Chiefs faced third down early after a short run from Thompson and a short catch from Kelce. Hardman couldn’t hold on to the pass from Mahomes, and the Chiefs go three-and-out

First drive: On the first play of the game, running back Phillip Lindsay ran for 10 yards. Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu sacked Drew Lock to start the next set of downs. After a short run and a short pass, the Broncos punted.

A short pass to Freeman didn’t get the first down after a tackle from Mathieu, but a holding penalty helped the Broncos convert. Lock threw an interception on the next play to Juan Thornhill.
Seventh drive: Lock completed a short pass to Sutton, who ran for an additional 33 yards. An 8-yard run from Freeman put the Broncos into Chiefs territory. Lock completed a 9-yard pass to Sutton, but a bad run and an incomplete pass gave the Broncos another third-and-long. Lock threw an incompletion, forcing the Broncos to go for it on fourth down. Another incompletion forced a turnover-on-downs.
Eighth drive: Lock completed a pass of nine yards and then avoided a sack to throw an incompletion on the next play. Lock ran a QB sneak to convert on the third-and-short. Sutton caught another pass for 27 yards and a 7-yard pass from Lock put the Broncos into Chiefs’ territory. After three straight incompletions, the Broncos went for it again on fourth down and did not convert.
- Dustin Colquitt bobbled the snap on the first extra-point kick of the game. Getting to his feet, he went to his left hoping to find an open receiver, but ended up throwing it out of bounds near Anthony Sherman.
- Defensive end Alex Okafor left the game in the second quarter with a chest injury
- Safety Juan Thornhill left the game in the second quarter after colliding with Charvarius Ward. He returned to the game before the quarter concluded.
