The game
The Kansas City Chiefs return to Arrowhead Stadium Week 5 to face the Indianapolis Colts before a nationwide audience on Sunday Night Football. Kickoff is set for 7:20 p.m. The game will be carried on NBC-TV — locally on KSHB/41.
The Chiefs are 4-0 after defeating the Detroit Lions 34-30 at Ford Field last Sunday. The Colts arrive in Kansas City 2-2 after a 31-24 home loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 4.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September after passing for 1,510 yards and 10 touchdowns in the first quarter of the season. He is the reigning NFL MVP.
Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett is in his fourth NFL season — his third with the Colts — and his first as a team’s starter following the sudden retirement of Andrew Luck just before the beginning of the season. He has played well in the season’s first four games, passing for 911 yards (with 10 touchdowns and just two interceptions) with a passer rating of 102.1 — easily his best year as a pro.
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is now in his 21st season as an NFL head coach — his seventh with the Chiefs. Against the Colts, he will be trying for his 200th regular-season victory, which will make him only the eighth coach in league history to accomplish the feat.
Colts head coach Frank Reich is in his second year as an NFL head coach — both of them with the Colts. In his first season, he led the team to a 10-6 record and a Wild Card playoff victory against the Houston Texans before falling to the Chiefs 31-13 in the Divisional Round playoff game at Arrowhead.
Reid is 3-5 against the Colts in the regular season — and 2-2 since arriving in Kansas City.
