The game

The Houston Texans travel to Arrowhead Stadium for a Week 6 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 Noon (Arrowhead Time). The game will be broadcast on CBS-TV — locally on KCTV/5.

The Chiefs lead the AFC West with a 4-1 record. They’re coming off a 19-13 home loss to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday night. The Texans are tied with the Colts at 3-2 atop the AFC South and beat the Atlanta Falcons 53-32 last Sunday in Houston.

Both teams are led by quarterbacks drafted early in the 2017 NFL Sraft. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was picked by the Chiefs with the 10th overall selection and spent a year backing up Alex Smith before taking the reins of the team in 2018. He was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player in his first season as a starter, leading the team to the AFC’s number one seed and a berth in the AFC Championship game. Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was taken two picks later. He became the Texans’ starter after the midpoint of his rookie season and took the team to the playoffs with an 11-5 record in 2018.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is in his 21st season as an NFL head coach — his seventh with the team. Reid is 69-32 with the Chiefs, which is the best regular-season coaching record in franchise history. Texans head coach Bill O’Brien is in his sixth season leading the franchise and has a record of 45-40 since taking the job in 2014. Both coaches have won three division titles with their teams.

Reid is 7-1 against the Texans in his career — 4-1 since joining the Chiefs and 3-1 against O’Brien. The teams last met in Houston during Week 5 of the 2017 regular season. The Chiefs won that game 42-34.
