In the traditional opening move of the offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs signed nine players to reserve/future contracts on Tuesday. They are:
- OT Ryan Hunter
- TE David Wells
- OT Pace Murphy
- LB Robert McCray
- LB Raymond Davison
- DB D’Montre Wade
- DT Joey Ivie
- QB Chase Litton
- WR Josh Crockett
These names are familiar to us, of course. All have been on the Chiefs practice squad — along with former Indianapolis Colts safety Chris Cooper, who was signed to the practice squad on January 8.
Many of these players will have no on-the-field impact in 2019 season. But in the week after the offseason started one year ago, here are the players that the Chiefs signed to reserve/future contracts:
- RB George Atkinson
- WR Daniel Braverman
- WR Gehrig Dieter
- TE Anthony Firkser
- OL Dillon Gordon
- LB Tyrone Holmes
- OL Kaleb Johnson
- DL Mike Purcell
- CB Will Redmond
- OT Andrew Wylie
So while many of these new signings will have little impact on the team in 2019, last year’s list shows us that some of them could play a significant role.
The offseason is underway.
