History of New England on the road versus playoff teams

First we'll start out with the raw data. Here is every game the Patriots have played on the road since the start of the 2001 season against teams that would make the playoffs that year (including actual games in the playoffs)

50 games out of Brady's 307 career games have come on the road against playoff teams.

He has a 27-23 record, with 81 TD passes, 38 interceptions, and an 89.6 passer rating.

10 of those games came against division opponents (Jets, Bills, Dolphins) where the Patriots went 7-3, meaning New England went 20-20 against all other opponents.

7 of those games were actually in the playoffs, where the Patriots have a 3-4 record, with their last win being in January of 2007 against the San Diego Chargers, 24-21. Since then, they have three road defeats at the hands of Peyton Manning (2007 Colts, 2014 and 2016 Broncos).

In those 7 games, Brady went 155 for 275 (56.4%), 1779 yards (254.1 per game), 9 TDs, 8 INTs, and 15 sacks, for a 74.8 passer rating.

Their three wins are by scores of 24-17, 41-27, and 24-21 (+24 total) and their four losses are by scores of 13-27, 34-38, 16-26, and 18-20 (-30 total).

This is not the juggernaut New England team that rolls teams in Foxborough or goes on the road and clobbers bad teams. This is the scenario where they are human, where they are vulnerable. And obviously, this is the scenario that every football team would struggle with, and the NFL record during this time for going on the road against playoff teams is worse than this. But do not fret too much about this game because of Tom Brady and the Patriots, because the Chiefs are absolutely in a better position to claim the AFC title. Now they just have to go out there and do it.
