Like him or not, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller is one of the faces of the National Football League.

If are wondering what I mean, I consider other faces—again, like them or not—to be players like the New England Patriots’ Tom Brady and the Houston Texans’ JJ Watt.
So I thought it would be fun to ask Miller, a member of that unofficial club, if he thought Patrick Mahomes could eventually fit into that category. Mahomes has had quite a start to the 2018 season as the current MVP favorite headed into Denver to play Miller’s Broncos on Monday night.
“In my opinion, I feel like he already is,” Miller said over a conference call with the local Kansas City media. “All he’s missing is the big-time quarterback contract, and he’ll definitely get that soon. He’s a great quarterback, relatable, big arm, got a little country accent. He’s definitely one of the faces of the National Football League.”
Miller was asked if there was a learning curve to being a member of such an elite club.
“No—you just got to ball,” Miller explained. “Ball and win games, and it’ll just naturally happen. Ain’t nothin’ you can do outside of that that will make you a face of the National Football League. You just got to ball and win games. That’s all you can do.”
Well, Mahomes has 13 touchdowns and no interceptions in 2018 and a 4-0 career record.
By Miller’s guidelines, yes, Mahomes is already there.
