if you’ve been crossing your fingers, you may now uncross them. According to the Kansas City Star’s Brooke Pryor, the Chiefs have cut cornerback David Amerson.

With all the moves in the defensive secondary since Thursday evening, this might not seem all that unexpected. Still, Amerson was seen as the #3 corner behind Kendall Fuller and Steven Nelson as recently as a few days ago, so the acquisition of Charvarius Ward on Thursday night may now be seen as more than just a depth move.
This move will be welcomed by many Chiefs fans, as Amerson’s preseason play was viewed by many as... shall we say... substandard.
Amerson, 26, was a second round pick by the Washington Redskins in the 2013 NFL draft. He went to the Oakland Raiders midway through his third season, and was signed by the Chiefs as a free agent in the offseason.
