The Kansas City Chiefs are mimicking an actual game week as they prepare for the Chicago Bears in their third preseason game scheduled for this Saturday at Noon Arrowhead Time.
We learned Tuesday morning that preparation will begin without starting safety Eric Berry, who is still dealing with a sore heel.
#Chiefs injury update ahead of preseason game three against the Bears.

- DL Allen Bailey still working through knee issue
- S Eric Berry still working through heel
- LDT and Steve Nelson are still in the concussion protocol
“I don’t want to go backwards,” Reid said of Berry. “That’s what I don’t want to do, so I’m OK with it. He’s far enough along where he’ll be all right.”
Reid said the Chiefs are resting Berry despite his best efforts to get on the field.
“He’s always trying,” Reid added. “I’ve got to monitor it. I’m comfortable where he’s going with this thing, and I want to keep it that way.”
Berry was last seen participating on Saturday, August 11, in St. Joseph.
Other injury updates of note
RB Charcandrick West (concussion)
“Charcandrick should get some work [Tuesday], we’ll kind of see how he does, but he says he feels good and the docs have given him the OK, so we’ll put him out there. We’ll be in pads [Tuesday], so it’ll be good for him to go out there and move around a little bit.”
LBs Anthony Hitchens (hamstring) and Reggie Ragland (knee)
“If they can go, they’ll be out there. There’s a good chance they play in this game, so we’ll just see how the practices go. Right now, they feel pretty good, so that’s a positive. It’s not even that I need to see them. Do they need to continue to play? They’re both young guys—one being new in the defense.”
