Dave Toub thinks many Chiefs cuts will land on other teams

Toub said the Chiefs’ depth is strong, and that situation makes for some tough decisions.

The Kansas City Chiefs will have many tough decisions to make at the 53-man roster deadline, which is scheduled for September 1 at 3:00 p.m. Arrowhead Time.

“We meet every night as a staff,” the Chiefs assistant head coach and special teams coordinator, Dave Toub, said after practice on Sunday. “We grade every player, rank every player every night. Everybody hears what everybody says, so there are no secrets. There is not going to be any surprises. We all talk about everybody, everybody hears it and we’re all on the same page.”

There was a time not too long ago (2013) when the Chiefs were cutting six players and signing seven at that same deadline.

Those days, Uncle Dave anticipates, are over.

“I think we have a lot of talent,” Toub said. “I think there is going to be a lot of good players that are going to get cut that you’ll see get picked up by other teams. I just think we have a lot of depth, and that’s a good thing to have.”
